List of census agglomerations in Alberta facts for kids
Imagine Canada as a big puzzle. Statistics Canada helps us understand how people live in different parts of this puzzle. One way they do this is by defining special areas called census agglomerations. These are groups of towns and communities that are close to each other. To be a census agglomeration, the main town or city in the group needs to have at least 10,000 people.
If a census agglomeration grows even bigger, reaching 100,000 people, it can become a census metropolitan area. This is like a larger city region. In 2016, the area around Lethbridge became a census metropolitan area because its population grew big enough.
