List of covered bridges in California facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

California is home to some amazing old bridges, and ten of them are special "covered bridges." Eight of these are even considered historic! A covered bridge isn't just old; it's built in a special way. Real, or "authentic," covered bridges use strong trusses (a framework of beams) to hold them up. Other bridges might use simpler methods like stringers, but that's not how an authentic covered bridge is made.
