List of lakes of the Sawtooth Mountains (Idaho) facts for kids
The Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho are home to hundreds of beautiful lakes. Most of these lakes were formed a long, long time ago by huge, slow-moving rivers of ice called alpine glaciers. Many of these lakes are found deep inside the Sawtooth Wilderness, which is a protected area where nature is left wild. However, some of the biggest and most famous lakes are just outside this wilderness, but still within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Some of the largest lakes you can find here include Redfish, Alturas, Pettit, Yellow Belly, Stanley, and Sawtooth lakes.
