List of mammals of Azerbaijan facts for kids
Welcome to the amazing world of mammals living in Azerbaijan! This list will show you some of the cool animals you can find there. We'll also talk about how safe these animals are, using a special system called the IUCN Red List. This list helps us understand which animals need our help to survive.
Right now, in Azerbaijan, one mammal species is in great danger (endangered). Five species are at a high risk (vulnerable), and eleven are animals we need to watch carefully (near threatened).
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) uses these tags to show how safe or in danger an animal species is around the world:
Extinct | It means there's no doubt the last animal of that kind has died.
Extinct in the wild | These animals only live in zoos or special protected areas, not in the wild anymore.
Critically endangered | These animals are in extreme danger of disappearing from the wild very soon.
Endangered | These animals are at a very high risk of disappearing from the wild.
Vulnerable | These animals are at a high risk of disappearing from the wild.
Near threatened | These animals aren't in danger right now, but they might be soon.
Least concern | There are no big worries about these animals disappearing.
Data deficient | We don't have enough information to know if these animals are in danger. |
