The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Lomma. Another important town, Bjärred, has almost the same number of people living there.

Exploring Lomma's Geography
Lomma Municipality is quite small. It shares borders with Kävlinge Municipality, Burlöv Municipality, Staffanstorp Municipality, and Lund Municipality. Since Burlöv is also very small, Lomma Municipality is almost next to Malmö Municipality.
The municipality is located by the Öresund strait. A small river called Höje å flows into the strait here. Along this river, you'll find a yacht marina where boats are kept. Old industrial areas near the river are now being turned into new apartments and houses. Many of these homes have views of the river or the beach.
The beaches in Lomma Municipality are very popular. People from other areas, especially from Lund (which doesn't have its own beaches), come here to enjoy the coast.
Lomma Municipality is about 10 kilometers from Lund, a university city with around 80,000 people. It's also about the same distance from Malmö, a much larger city with about 285,000 people. Many people who live in Lomma Municipality travel to work in Malmö. About 6,500 people commute from Lomma to other cities for work. Getting around is easy because a main highway goes right through the town of Lomma. This highway connects Lomma with Lund, Malmö, and other cities to the north.
The land in Lomma Municipality is mostly flat. This is typical for the southwestern part of Skåne. The highest point in the municipality is only 40 meters above sea level.

Lomma Through History
The area where Lomma Municipality is today has a long history. Hunters lived here during the Stone Age, which was a very long time ago. The name Lomma itself can be found in records from the year 1085. In the centuries that followed, the area became quite wealthy. This was thanks to trade with the important church city of Lund.
For a long time, Lomma was just a village. But things changed in 1871 when Sweden's first cement factory was built here. The ground in Lomma Municipality has a special type of clay. This clay comes from the last ice age and is found in large amounts. Because of this, a big industry started in the 1860s. By the end of that century, Lomma Municipality had five brick factories!
The bricks made in Lomma were yellow. They were considered the best kind of bricks during that time. One famous building made with these yellow bricks is the church in Lomma, called Lomma kyrka. It's a large church built in the neo Gothic style and was finished in the 1870s.
The coat of arms, which is like a special symbol for the municipality, tells a story. It shows an anchor, which highlights the importance of the harbour. It also shows a brick wall. This reminds us that Lomma Municipality once had special city rights and was known for its brick industry.
