History of Magnicharters
The story of Magnicharters began in 1984 with a travel agency called Magnitur. Later, in 1994, the Bojórquez family started Magnicharters. They wanted to fly the customers of their travel agency. The airline officially began flying in January 1995.
Magnicharters mostly focuses on domestic tourism, which means flying people to vacation spots inside Mexico. Many of these spots are popular beach resorts.
An interesting fact is that Magnicharters was the first commercial airline in Mexico to hire a woman pilot!
In 2000, Magnicharters received permission to offer regular commercial flights. Before this, they only flew special charter flights and cargo (things, not people).
In 2014, Magnicharters grew even more. They started flying to the United States, with routes from Monterrey to exciting places like Las Vegas and Orlando.
To celebrate 25 years of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (a famous Mexican wrestling company) in July 2017, Magnicharters did something cool. They painted two of their airplanes with the masks of famous wrestlers, Dr. Wagner Jr. and Psycho Clown!

Important Events and Incidents
A few notable events have happened with Magnicharters flights over the years. It's important to know that in the events below, no one was seriously hurt.
- On September 14, 2007, a Magnicharters Boeing 737-200 had a problem with its landing gear (the wheels that help the plane land) when it arrived at Guadalajara International Airport. The plane, carrying 103 passengers and 6 crew members, was on a flight from Cancún. A small fire started in an engine after the landing, but everyone got off the plane safely, and no one died.
- On April 27, 2009, another Magnicharters Boeing 737-200, also flying from Cancún to Guadalajara, had a similar issue. The landing gear could not come down all the way. The pilots had to perform a "belly landing," which means landing the plane without the wheels fully extended. There were 108 passengers and 8 crew on board, and thankfully, no one was seriously injured.
- In December 2014, a pilot from the airline was let go from their job. This happened because they allowed a singer to sit in the pilot's seat and pretend to control the plane during a regular flight. The singer even posted pictures of this on social media.
- Also in December 2014, a consumer protection agency called PROFECO temporarily stopped Magnicharters' commercial activities. This was because the airline was not clearly showing its prices to the public.
- On November 26, 2015, another Boeing 737-300 had a problem with its landing gear. The left main landing gear failed, causing the plane to sway. However, no one was injured in this event.
