Mulabagilu is a town in the Kolar district of Karnataka, India. It's located on National Highway 75. This town is special because it's the easternmost town in the state.

What's in a Name?
The name "Mulabagilu" (pronounced Moo-la-bah-gee-loo) comes from the Kannada language. It means "eastern door." People believed Mulabagilu was the main entrance to the old state of Mysuru from the east. It was also thought to be the first place in India to see the sunrise.
A Peek into History
Local stories tell us that the famous Hanuman temple in Mulabagilu was built by Arjuna. He was one of the Pandavas from the ancient Mahabharata war. It is also believed that a wise sage named Vasishta created the statues. These statues include the main god Srinivasa, and also Padmavati, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana.

Roads and Railways
Mulabagilu is on NH-4. This is a modern four-lane road that connects Bengaluru to the Karnataka border near Nangali. The road is about 110 kilometers long. There are also about 354 kilometers of other major roads connecting Mulabagilu to different places.
Good news for train travel! Mulabagilu is getting a new railway line and station. This is part of a project to connect Kadapa to Bangalore, reaching up to Kolar.
