The city of Niagara Falls isn't just famous for its waterfalls; it also has many historic buildings.
Adams Power Plant Transformer House
The Adams Power Plant Transformer House was built in 1895. It was designed by famous architects McKim, Mead, and White. This building was part of the very first power plant in the world to use alternating current electricity. Imagine, this place helped change how we power our homes and cities!
Chilton Avenue-Orchard Parkway Historic District
The Chilton Avenue-Orchard Parkway Historic District is a special area in Niagara Falls. It includes parts of Chilton Avenue and Orchard Parkway. This district is recognized for its unique collection of buildings and how they show the history of the neighborhood.
Deveaux School Historic District
The Deveaux School Historic District at 2900 Lewiston Road was listed in 1974. This area used to be a school for boys who needed help. Later, it became a prep school for boys. The campus itself is a historic site.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital

The Niagara Hotel
The Niagara is a former hotel building located at 201 Rainbow Boulevard. It was added to the Register in 2008.

The Niagara Falls Public Library was built between 1902 and 1904. It was funded by the famous rich person Andrew Carnegie. Today, this building at 1022 Main Street is used for city offices.
Niagara Falls School District Administration Building
The Niagara Falls School District Administration Building at 607 Walnut Street was built in 1928. This Classical Revival style building was created when two smaller school districts joined to form one big city district.
Niagara Falls State Park
Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States! It was created way back in 1885. This park, known as the Niagara Reservation, protects the incredible Niagara Falls.
Oakwood Cemetery
Oakwood Cemetery was founded in 1852 at 763 Portage Road. This historic cemetery has a very unique section: a special burial area for people who went over Niagara Falls in a barrel!
Park Place Historic District
The Park Place Historic District in Niagara Falls includes Park Place and parts of Prince Avenue, 4th Street, and Main Street. This district was recognized in 2010.
St. Mary's Nurses' Residence
The St. Mary's Nurses' Residence is a brick residence hall built in 1928. It's located at 542 6th Street and was where nurses lived.
Schoellkopf Power Station No. 3 Site
The Schoellkopf Power Station No. 3 Site is on the east bank of the Niagara River. The most visible part today is a stone wall. This power plant collapsed into the river in 1956. This event led to the creation of the Niagara Power Project, which was a big step in making sure utilities were managed for the public good.
Hazard H. Sheldon House
The Hazard H. Sheldon House is a stone house built around 1857. It's designed in the Italian Villa style and is located at 539 4th Street.
South Junior High School
The South Junior High School building at 561 Portage Road was built in 1922. It was one of the very first junior high schools! It was used until 1985 and is now being turned into apartments.
Town of Niagara District School No. 2
The Town of Niagara District School No. 2 is a one-room schoolhouse built in 1878. It's located at 9670 Lockport Road. Imagine all the students who learned in this single room!
U.S. Customhouse
The U.S. Customhouse is a stone building constructed in 1863. It's located at 2245 Whirlpool Street. This building was used by customs officials to check goods coming into the country.
United Office Building
The United Office Building is a tall, 20-story skyscraper completed in 1929. It's designed in the Art Deco style, which was very popular at the time. You can find it at 220 Rainbow Boulevard.
U.S. Post Office - Niagara Falls Main
The U.S. Post Office - Niagara Falls Main was built between 1904 and 1907. It's located at 615 Main Street and is part of a group of historic post offices in New York State.
Whitney Mansion

Conkey House

Hopkins House
The Hopkins House is a stone house built in 1833. It's located at 83 Monroe Street and is another example of Lockport's historic stone buildings.

The House at 8 Berkley Drive is a Prairie style home built in 1957. It's a more modern historic building compared to some of the older ones.
Lockport Industrial District
The Lockport Industrial District is an important area roughly bounded by the Erie Canal, Gooding, Clinton, and Water Streets. It includes two sets of Erie Canal locks built in 1859 and between 1909-1918, along with other industrial buildings. Lowertown Historic District
The Lowertown Historic District in Lockport is a residential area with buildings constructed from the 1820s to the 1860s. It's roughly bounded by the Erie Canal and the New York Central Railroad.
Maloney House
The Maloney House is a stone house built around 1860. It's located at 279 Caledonia Street and is another historic stone dwelling in Lockport.
Benjamin C. Moore Mill
The Benjamin C. Moore Mill is a stone building built in 1864 on Pine Street, right on the Erie Canal. It used to be a grist mill (where grain was ground). Later, it served as the city hall and is now a welcome center.
New York State Barge Canal
The New York State Barge Canal is a huge historic district that runs across Niagara County, including Lockport, Middleport, North Tonawanda, Pendleton, Royalton, and Wheatfield. This canal system was approved in the early 1900s to replace the Erie Canal and compete with railroads. It's a National Historic Landmark!
Niagara County Courthouse and County Clerk's Office
The Niagara County Courthouse (built in 1886) and the County Clerk's Office (built in 1856) are important government buildings. They are located at 175 Hawley Street and 139 Niagara Street.
Thomas Oliver House
The Thomas Oliver House is a Queen Anne style brick house built in 1891. It's located at 175 Locust Street.
Pound–Hitchins House
The Pound–Hitchins House is a Greek Revival stone house built in 1833. It's at 325 Summit Street and was built by an early settler of Lockport.
Stickney House
The Stickney House is a stone house built in 1854. It's located at 133 Lock Street and is another of Lockport's historic stone buildings.
Union Station
Union Station in Lockport was a Romanesque style train station built in 1889. Sadly, it was destroyed by fire, but its shell remains at 95 Union Avenue.
U.S. Post Office - Lockport
The U.S. Post Office - Lockport was built between 1902 and 1904. It's located at 1 East Avenue and is part of a series of historic post offices in New York State.
Peter D. Walter House
The Peter D. Walter House is a two-story stone house built in 1858. It's at 127 Ontario Street and is another example of Lockport's historic stone architecture.
Watson House
The Watson House is a two-story stone house built in 1854. It's located at 129 Outwater Drive and is part of Lockport's many historic stone buildings.
White-Pound House

Ascension Roman Catholic Church Complex
The Ascension Roman Catholic Church Complex was built around 1894. Located at 168 and 172 Robinson Street and 61, 69, and 91 Keil Street, this complex was a social hub for immigrants in North Tonawanda in the early 1900s.
Carnegie Library
The Carnegie Library at 249 Goundry Street was funded by Andrew Carnegie and built in 1903. Today, this historic library is a local arts center.
Dick Block
The Dick Block is located at 62 Webster Street. This building was added to the National Register in 2012.
Allan Herschell Carousel Factory
The Allan Herschell Carousel Factory was built between 1910 and 1915 at 180 Thompson Street. It used to be a factory where carousels were made, and now it's a museum!
The Herschell–Spillman Motor Company Complex
The Herschell–Spillman Motor Company Complex is located at 184 Sweeney Street. This complex was added to the Register in 2013.
Riviera Theatre
The Riviera Theatre was built in 1926 at 67 Webster Street. This historic theater is famous for its "Mighty Wurlitzer" theater organ, which is a huge and amazing musical instrument!
U.S. Post Office - North Tonawanda

The Amzi Bradley Farmstead is another two-story cobblestone house built in 1836. It's at 8915 Bradley Road in Hartland and is also part of the cobblestone architecture style.
John Carter Farmstead
The John Carter Farmstead in Youngstown includes an Italianate style brick house and barn. It's located at 206 Lake Road.
District 10 Schoolhouse
The District 10 Schoolhouse is a one-room cobblestone school built in 1845. It's located at 9713 Seaman Road in Hartland and is a great example of early school buildings.
First Baptist Church (Newfane)

The Lewiston Mound is an ancient burial mound (a mound of earth built over a grave) located in Earl W. Brydges Artpark State Park in Lewiston. It's a significant Native American site.

Thirty Mile Point Light
