The Navajo Transit System (NTS) is like a public bus service for the Navajo Nation. It helps people travel around the Navajo Nation and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The NTS currently runs 17 different bus routes. It serves 41 of the 110 Navajo communities.

The NTS is part of the Navajo Nation Government. It gets money from different places to operate. These include the Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah Departments of Transportation. It also receives funds from the Federal Transit Administration.

The NTS has faced some challenges with its service. For example, in 2017, some of its federal funding was paused. This happened because the system needed to follow government rules more closely.

In 2018, the NTS started working with the Farmington Red Apple Transit system. This partnership allows riders to switch between the two bus systems for free. You can do this in Kirtland, NM and Farmington, NM.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the NTS stopped its bus service. This pause began on March 18, 2020. Service slowly started again on June 7, 2021. At that time, routes 3, 5, 9, and 14 began running again.
