Olympiacos Men's Volleyball is a professional volleyball team from Greece. It's part of the larger Olympiacos SFP sports club, located in Piraeus, Attica. The team started in 1926. They play their home games at the Melina Merkouri Indoor Hall.

Olympiacos is the most successful volleyball club in Greek history. They have won 32 Greek Volley League titles, 19 Cups, and 7 League Cups. These are all national records! They also have 3 Super Cups.

This team is the only Greek volleyball team to win a European title. In fact, they have won three European titles:

  • Two CEV Cups (in 1996 and 2005)
  • One CEV Challenge Cup (in 2023)

Olympiacos has a strong history in European volleyball. They have played in 8 European finals across the three main CEV competitions. They were runners-up twice in the CEV Champions League (in 1992 and 2002). They also won the CEV Cup twice and were runners-up twice. In the CEV Challenge Cup, they won once (2023) and were runners-up once (2018).

At home, Olympiacos holds the record for winning the most championships in a row, with eight straight wins from 1987 to 1994. They also won seven championships without losing a single game! Their best time in Europe was between 1992 and 2005. During this period, they reached eleven "final fours" (where the last four teams compete). They also finished third in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship. In 2023, they won the 2022–23 CEV Challenge Cup by beating their rivals Panathinaikos in the semi-finals and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the final.

Olympiacos is very popular in Greece, and their men's volleyball team gets amazing support from fans. Many great Greek players have played for them, like Marios Giourdas and Sakis Moustakidis. They have also had many world-class players from other countries, such as Ivan Miljković, Lorenzo Bernardi, and Jeff Stork.

Amazing Fan Support

Olympiacos fans are famous for how much passion and energy they bring to games. The atmosphere at their home matches is known to be super intense and exciting, which is rare in volleyball! In the 1990s and early 2000s, Olympiacos was one of the best volleyball teams in Europe, and they had some of the biggest fan support.

In 1992, during the 1992 CEV Champions League Final Four in Piraeus, about 20,000 Olympiacos fans filled the Peace and Friendship Stadium. They cheered loudly for the semi-final and the final. Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly, a famous player from the opposing team, said that the atmosphere was "unbelievable" and that he "cherished the Greek supporters and the passion of Olympiacos fans."

In 1996, the CEV Cup Winners' Cup Final Four was also held in Piraeus. Around 18,000 to 20,000 Olympiacos fans packed the stadium. They created an incredible atmosphere that helped their team win their first European title against the German team Bayer Wuppertal. After the win, hundreds of excited fans rushed onto the court to celebrate with the players!

In 2005, Olympiacos hosted the CEV Top Teams Cup Final Four. Again, 15,000 fans filled the Peace and Friendship Stadium, creating an electric atmosphere. This support helped Olympiacos win their second European title.

More recently, in 2018, about 12,000 Olympiacos fans created an amazing atmosphere in the final of the 2017–18 CEV Challenge Cup. An opposing player, Paul Buchegger, described it as a "red hell" and said he had "goose bumps" because he had never played in front of such a big crowd.

On March 15, 2023, 13,000 Olympiacos fans packed the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Their incredible support helped Olympiacos win the 2022–23 CEV Challenge Cup, which was their third European title.
