Masour Ousmane Dembélé (born 15 May 1997) is a French professional footballer. He plays as a forward for the club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the France national team. He is known for his incredible speed and his ability to use both feet equally well.
Dembélé is considered one of the best players in the world. In 2025, he won the prestigious Ballon d'Or award and was named The Best FIFA Men's Player. He has won the FIFA World Cup with France and the UEFA Champions League with PSG.
He started his career at Rennes in France before moving to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. In 2017, he joined FC Barcelona in Spain for a very high transfer fee. After winning many trophies in Spain, he returned to France to join PSG in 2023.

Early life
Dembélé was born in Vernon, Eure, a town in the Normandy region of France. His mother is from a Mauritanian-Senegalese background, and his father is from Mali.
He loved football from a young age. He took his first steps in the sport in the nearby town of Évreux. He played for local youth clubs ALM Évreux and Évreux FC 27 when he was between 12 and 13 years old.
Club career
Rennes
Dembélé began his professional career at Rennes. He first played for their reserve team in 2014. He scored his first goal for the reserve team on 9 November 2014. In his first season, he scored 13 goals in 18 games.
He made his debut for the main professional team in Ligue 1 (the top French league) on 6 November 2015. He scored his first league goal two weeks later against Bordeaux. On 6 March 2016, he scored a hat-trick (three goals in one game) against Nantes. He finished his first professional season with 12 goals in 29 matches and was named the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year.
Borussia Dortmund
In May 2016, Dembélé signed with the German club Borussia Dortmund. He played his first game for them on 14 August 2016. He scored his first goal in the Bundesliga (the top German league) on 20 September against VfL Wolfsburg.
Dembélé helped Dortmund win the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) in 2017. He scored the winning goal in the semi-final against Bayern Munich and scored the first goal in the final against Eintracht Frankfurt. He was named the "Man of the Match" for his performance in the final. He was also named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season.
Barcelona
In August 2017, Dembélé joined the famous Spanish club FC Barcelona. The transfer fee was €105 million, making him one of the most expensive players in history at that time. He was given the number 11 shirt, which had previously been worn by the Brazilian star Neymar.
Early years and titles
Dembélé played his first game for Barcelona on 9 September 2017. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury shortly after and could not play for four months. He scored his first goal for the club on 14 March 2018 in a UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea. In his first season, he won both the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey.
In the 2018–19 season, he scored important goals, including a winning goal in the Supercopa de España. He helped Barcelona win another La Liga title. However, he struggled with several injuries over the next few seasons, which limited his playing time.
Later years in Spain
Dembélé worked hard to recover from his injuries. In the 2021–22 season, he played very well and provided the most assists (passes that lead to a goal) in the league. He extended his contract with Barcelona in July 2022 and continued to be a key player for the team until 2023.
Paris Saint-Germain
Success in France
On 12 August 2023, Dembélé returned to France to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He chose to wear the number 10 jersey.
In the 2023–24 season, he helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. He scored important goals, including one against his former club, Barcelona.
Becoming the best in the world
The 2024–25 season was the best of Dembélé's career so far. He scored 33 goals and made 15 assists. He helped PSG win a "continental treble," which means they won the league, the national cup, and the UEFA Champions League all in one season.
In the Champions League, he scored crucial goals against big teams like Manchester City and Arsenal. He provided two assists in the final against Inter Milan, helping PSG win 5–0.
Because of his amazing performances, Dembélé won the 2025 Ballon d'Or, an award given to the best football player in the world. On 16 December 2025, he was also named The Best FIFA Men’s Player.
International career
Dembélé plays for the France national football team. He made his debut for the senior team in 2016.
