The PlayStation 4, often called PS4, is a popular video game console made by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the fourth main home console in the PlayStation series. The PS4 was first shown to the public on February 20, 2013. It then launched in North America on November 15, 2013.

Many exciting games are available on the PS4. Some well-known titles include Minecraft, Just Cause 3, and Call of Duty. The PS4 does not support all types of Bluetooth audio devices. This means some wireless headphones or speakers might not connect directly. The console was first stopped from being sold in Brazil on January 9, 2016.

History of the PS4 Console

How the PS4 Was Introduced

Sony invited many news reporters to a special event in New York City. This event took place on February 20, 2013. At this meeting, Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4. They told everyone to "see the future" of gaming.

Cool Add-ons for PS4

In 2016, Sony released a special device called PlayStation VR. This is a virtual reality headset that you can connect to your PlayStation 4. It lets you play games in a completely new way, making you feel like you are inside the game world.

Different PlayStation 4 Models

There are three main versions of the PS4 console. Each one offers slightly different features or sizes.

  • PS4 (Original Model, 2013): This was the very first PS4 console. It had 8 GB of fast GDDR5 RAM and usually came with 500 GB of storage. It also had two USB 3.0 ports.
  • PS4 Slim (Released 2016): This model replaced the original PS4. It has similar technical parts but is much smaller. It also uses less power and is quieter when it runs. You could get it with either 500 GB or 1 TB of storage.
  • PS4 Pro (Released 2016): This is a more powerful version of the PS4. It has a stronger graphics processor (GPU) and a faster main processor (CPU). It also has three USB 3.1 ports and comes with 1 TB of storage. The PS4 Pro is designed to offer better graphics, especially for 4K TVs.

Other PlayStation Consoles

The PlayStation 4 is part of a larger family of gaming consoles. Here are some other consoles in the PlayStation series:
