Roy Frank "RJ" Mitte III (born August 21, 1992) is an American actor and producer. He was born and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. When he was three years old, doctors diagnosed him with cerebral palsy. This condition affects how the brain controls muscles.
In 2006, RJ moved to Hollywood. He worked with a manager to find acting jobs. He wanted to show people what it's like to live with a disability. After appearing in some TV shows, he got a big role. He played Walter White Jr. in the TV drama series Breaking Bad (2008–2013). His character also had cerebral palsy.
RJ Mitte has also starred in other TV shows. These include the family drama Switched at Birth (2014) and the animated series The Guardians of Justice (2022). He has acted in movies like Time Share (2018) and Standing Up for Sunny (2019). He also appeared in The Oak Room (2020) and Triumph (2021). He helped produce Triumph.
Mitte is a strong supporter for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. He speaks for actors with disabilities at the Screen Actors Guild. He is also a special helper for United Cerebral Palsy. In 2013, he won the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award for his work.

Early Life and Growing Up
RJ Mitte was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was three years old. For six months, doctors put casts on his legs. This was to help straighten his feet.
As a child, RJ wore leg braces and used crutches. But as he grew, he became stronger. He played sports and exercised. By the time he was a teenager, he no longer needed walking aids. In 2006, his family moved to Los Angeles. His younger sister, Lacianne Carriere, had a chance to act in a movie there.
RJ was raised by his mother after his parents lived apart. When his mother became unable to move easily, RJ took on a lot of responsibility. At age 13, he started helping to support his family. This included his mother and his younger sister.
Acting Career
RJ Mitte first had small roles as an extra. One of these was in the Disney show Hannah Montana. He then became very interested in acting. He decided to take acting lessons. Soon after, he got the role of Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad. This character also had cerebral palsy.

In 2013, RJ won an award for his acting in Breaking Bad. It was the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award. He also gave an award to deaf actor Ryan Lane. The Screen Actors Guild chose RJ to be a spokesperson. He speaks for actors who have disabilities. He also works with a group that helps artists with disabilities find jobs.
In 2011, RJ starred in a short horror movie called Stump. That same year, he helped produce a documentary. It was called Vanished: The Tara Calico Story. In 2012, he acted in the thriller movie House of Last Things.
RJ appeared in a music video in 2013. It was for the song "Dead Bite" by the band Hollywood Undead. In 2014, he started a new role on the TV show Switched at Birth. He played Campbell, a college student who uses a wheelchair. RJ also modeled for a Gap clothing ad campaign in 2014.
In 2015, RJ Mitte was on the cover of Neurology Now magazine. The magazine shared his story and his thoughts on cerebral palsy. It also talked about bullying and his acting career. In 2015, he became a special helper for United Cerebral Palsy.
In June 2015, RJ walked the runway for fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. In November 2015, it was announced that RJ would be a presenter. He helped cover the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics for British Channel 4. In 2016, he was in the music video for "If I Get High" by Nothing but Thieves.
