Samuel Henry John Worthington (born 2 August 1976) is a famous Australian actor. He is best known for his roles in big movies like the Avatar series, where he plays Jake Sully. He also starred as Marcus Wright in Terminator Salvation and as Perseus in Clash of the Titans and its sequel Wrath of the Titans.
Sam Worthington has acted in many other exciting films. These include The Debt (2010), Everest (2015), and Hacksaw Ridge (2016). He has won Australia's top film award three times. He received these awards for his main roles in Bootmen (2000), Somersault (2004), and Avatar (2009).
On TV, he played Howard in the Australian show Love My Way. He was also Phillip Schuler in the mini-series Deadline Gallipoli. Sam Worthington has also voiced Captain Alex Mason in the popular video game series Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Samuel Henry John Worthington was born on August 2, 1976. His parents were English, and he was born in Godalming, England.
When he was young, his family moved to Perth, Western Australia. He grew up in a suburb called Warnbro. His mother, Jeanne, was a homemaker. His father, Ronald, worked at a power plant. Sam also has a sister named Lucinda.
He went to John Curtin College of the Arts. This school is known for its drama programs. Sam studied drama there but did not finish his studies. After leaving school, his father gave him $400. He told Sam to travel to Cairns, Queensland, and "work his way home." Sam took on different jobs, including bricklaying. He eventually settled in Sydney.
At age 19, while working as a bricklayer, he tried out for the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He was accepted with a scholarship, which helped him pay for his studies.

Starting Out: Roles from 2000 to 2008
Sam Worthington began his film career in 2000. He had a small part in the Australian dance film Bootmen. He then played a main role in the comedy Gettin' Square.
In 2004, he starred in Somersault. For this movie, he won the AFI Award for Best Lead Actor. He became well-known in Australia for his role as Howard in the TV series Love My Way. In 2006, he played the main character in a modern version of Macbeth.
Sam Worthington's international career started with small roles. One of these was in the Hollywood movie The Great Raid (2005). He even tried out for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale. Sam Worthington has shared that before he auditioned for Avatar, he sold most of his belongings. He bought a car with the money and was living in it.
On October 18, 2013, Sam Worthington confirmed he was dating model Lara Bingle. They got married on December 28, 2014. They have three sons, born in 2015, 2016, and 2020.
