Samuel Henry John Worthington (born on August 2, 1976) is an Australian actor. He is famous for his roles in both Australian movies and big Hollywood films.
He became well-known in Australia for movies like Bootmen (2000) and Somersault (2004). For Somersault, he won Australia's top film award for Best Actor. He also gained fame from the TV series Love My Way. Sam Worthington became internationally famous after starring in James Cameron’s Avatar (2009). This movie is still one of the highest-grossing films ever. He played the same character again in the sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022).
He has also been in other big movies like Terminator Salvation (2009), Clash of the Titans (2010), and Wrath of the Titans (2012). He also voiced the main character in the popular Call of Duty: Black Ops video game series. More recently, he has appeared in films such as Everest (2015), Hacksaw Ridge (2016), and The Shack (2017). Early Life and Education
Sam Worthington was born in Godalming, England. His parents were English. When he was six months old, his family moved to Perth, Western Australia. He grew up in Warnbro, a suburb of Rockingham. His mother, Jeanne, was a homemaker, and his father, Ronald, worked at a power plant. He also has a sister named Lucinda.
Sam went to Rockingham Senior High School and John Curtin College of the Arts. This second school was a high school that focused on drama. He studied drama there but did not finish school. When he left college, his father gave him $400. He sent him on a trip to Cairns, Queensland, telling him to find his way back home by working. Sam started doing construction and other odd jobs. He eventually settled in Sydney. When he was 19, while working as a bricklayer, he tried out for the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He was accepted with a scholarship.

Starting in Australia (2000–2008)
Sam Worthington had a small part in the Australian dance movie Bootmen (2000). He then played a main role in the Australian comedy Gettin' Square.
He had a big role in Somersault (2004). For this movie, he won the AFI Award for Best Lead Actor. He was also well-known in Australia for playing Howard in the popular TV series Love My Way. In 2006, he played the main character in a modern version of Macbeth.
Sam's international movie career began with small roles in the Hollywood film The Great Raid (2005). This movie was filmed in Australia. On October 18, 2013, Sam Worthington confirmed he was in a relationship with model Lara Bingle. They got married on December 28, 2014. They have three sons, born in 2015, 2016, and 2020.
