Tyler Garcia-Posey (born October 18, 1991) is an American actor and musician. He started acting when he was a child. He became well-known for his role as Raul Garcia in the TV show Doc (2001–2004). He also played Ty Ventura in the movie Maid in Manhattan (2002).
As an adult, Tyler is famous for playing the main character, Scott McCall, in the MTV series Teen Wolf (2011–2017). Since then, he has acted in many movies and done voice acting. He has won several awards for his acting, including a Teen Choice Award. Tyler was also part of a band called Lost in Kostko, which he helped start in 2009.

Early Life and Family
Tyler Posey was born in Santa Monica, California. His mother was Cyndi Terese Garcia, and his father is actor and writer John Posey. Tyler grew up in Santa Clarita, California. He is the middle child of three boys. His mother's family is from Mexico.
Acting Career Highlights
Tyler Posey has worked steadily in movies and on television. In February 2002, he appeared in the film Collateral Damage. Later that year, he played the main character's son in the movie Maid in Manhattan. He tried out for the role of Jacob Black in the Twilight movies in 2007. However, his friend Taylor Lautner got the part. Tyler and Taylor often tried out for the same roles when they were child actors.
In 2011, Tyler got his big break as the lead in the MTV TV series Teen Wolf. This show was based on a 1985 movie. In Teen Wolf, Tyler played Scott McCall, a high school student. Scott gets bitten by a werewolf and has to keep it a secret. He also protects his friends and family from other supernatural creatures.
In the same year, Tyler voiced a character in a cartoon pilot called SheZow. He also acted in the 2012 film White Frog. In 2015, he became a co-producer for the fifth season of Teen Wolf. It was announced in 2016 that Teen Wolf would end in 2017 after its sixth season. Tyler's work on the show earned him two Teen Choice Awards, a Young Hollywood Award, and an ALMA Award. He was also nominated for other awards.
On May 24, 2017, Tyler was cast as Lucas Moreno in the supernatural thriller film Truth or Dare. The movie was released in theaters on April 13, 2018.
In September 2017, it was announced that Tyler would join the third season of the VH1 TV series Scream. He played the role of Shane. This season premiered on July 8, 2019.
In February 2019, Tyler was announced to star as Michael Emerson in the CW's TV reboot of The Lost Boys. However, the CW decided to change the cast for the pilot episode.
In November 2019, it was reported that Tyler would star in Netflix's animated Fast & Furious TV series Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. This show premiered on December 26, 2019. That same year, he played Ricky in the Netflix film The Last Summer. In 2020, Tyler starred in the horror film Alone.
In September 2021, it was announced that a reunion film for Teen Wolf was being made for Paramount+. Jeff Davis returned as a writer and producer. Most of the original cast, including Tyler, came back for the movie. Tyler also helped produce the film. The movie was released on January 26, 2023.
In 2023, Tyler competed on season ten of The Masked Singer as "Hawk". He was eliminated during "Harry Potter Night". In 2024, Tyler appeared as a cast member on MTV's reality TV show The Surreal Life. He also voiced the character Javi in the audiobook Know Your Newlywed.
Music and Other Projects

Tyler used to be the lead singer and guitarist for the band Disappearing Jamie. Before that, they were known as Lost in Kostko. Their first show was at the Roxy in Los Angeles in 2012. Lost in Kostko released an eight-song EP called You're Going to Need a Towel in 2011. Tyler announced that the band broke up on July 17, 2013.
In December 2016, Tyler was a guest DJ at Emo Nite LA's second anniversary party in Los Angeles.
Tyler played guitar and sang in the pop punk band PVMNTS. The band also included Freddy Ramirez and Nick Guzman. They released the song "Standing (On My Own Two Feet)" on June 14, 2018. Tyler wrote this song about his mother, who passed away in 2014. The band released their six-song EP Better Days on August 17, 2018. In April 2019, Tyler left the band to start a new music project.
This new project became the band Five North. Tyler formed Five North with his childhood best friend, Kyle Murphy. They are from Santa Clarita, California, near "the 5" (Interstate 5 in California), which is where the band's name comes from. They later added Makeout drummer Scott Eckel. Five North's first song, "This Mess," came out on October 4, 2019. Their first eight-song EP, Scumbag, was released on March 6, 2020.
In August 2021, Tyler appeared in the music video for "Broke." This song was by the UK pop-punk band The Bottom Line. Tyler had met them when touring the UK in 2018 with PVMNTS.
Personal Life
Tyler Posey married singer Phem in October 2023.
Tyler's mother, Cyndi Terese Garcia, passed away in December 2014. The fifth season of Teen Wolf was dedicated to her memory.
