What is Yin Yang Yo! About?
The show follows Yin and Yang, two 12-year-old rabbits. They train with Master Yo, a grumpy old panda. They learn the secret art of Woo Foo. This special martial art uses both physical strength and magic. Yin and Yang must work together to stop evil villains. These villains want to destroy, corrupt, or take over their world.
In the first season, their main goal was to defeat the Night Master. He was a very powerful enemy. The second season had three main stories. First, Yin and Yang tried to stop other villains from becoming the new Night Master. Second, Yang went on a quest to find powerful magic items. He thought four evil heads were Woo Foo masters, but they were actually villains. Third, Yin and Yang fought the original Night Master, Eradicus, who came back. They had to build a Woo Foo army to fight his army.
Where Does Yin Yang Yo! Take Place?
The show is set in a town with buildings that look like they are from Asia. The people living there are a mix of monsters, humanoids, robots, and animals with human-like qualities. They have unusual pets like puppygriffs (half puppy and half eagle) and two-ni-corns (unicorns with two horns). They also have real animals like dogs and cats. Magic and martial arts have been around since ancient times in this world. It is revealed that the series takes place in another dimension.

Meet the Characters
Main Characters
- Yin (voiced by Stephanie Morgenstern) - Yin is Master Yo's student and Yang's younger twin sister. She is smart, cute, and a bit sassy. Yin mostly uses the magic side of Woo Foo. She also knows the physical martial arts side. She likes a clean house and usually does what is right. In season two, she sometimes liked characters who were a bit rebellious. Yin's favorite color is pink, and she loves two-nicorns. She also loves to sing and is good at it. Yin cares a lot about her brother and Master Yo. She and Yang were street kids before Master Yo adopted them.
- Yang (voiced by Scott McCord) - Yang is Master Yo's student and Yin's older twin brother. He mostly uses the physical martial arts side of Woo Foo. He can also use the magic side. Yang is brave but sometimes acts too quickly. He likes clowns, fights, and video games. He often wants to be seen as a hero. Even though he doesn't always show it, he cares deeply for Yin and Master Yo. Yang has a bamboo sword that can change into different objects using Woo Foo. He likes Yin's friend Lina and tries to impress her. Yang accidentally helped Eradicus return by collecting magic items.
- Master Yo (voiced by Martin Roach) - Master Yo is a hundred-year-old panda. He is a skilled master of Woo Foo. He was the last Woo Foo warrior left, so he agreed to train Yin and Yang. He can be arrogant and stubborn but is also very wise. He knows many Woo Foo moves that Yin and Yang don't. He once defeated the Night Master. Master Yo sometimes tries to find a girlfriend. It is later revealed that he is Yin and Yang's biological father. He also has a secret identity as a crime-fighter called Possum Panda.
Villains
- The Night Master (voiced by David Hemblen) – The Night Master is a very powerful and dangerous enemy. He almost wiped out all Woo Foo knights, leaving only Master Yo. He made people think Woo Foo was bad so no one would learn it. Master Yo turned his army to stone and sent him into hiding for a hundred years. The Night Master is a demonic bat sorcerer who hates light. He is very smart, but his plans often fail because his helpers are silly or his ego gets in the way. He is the main villain throughout the series. After his defeat, other villains tried to become the new Night Master.
- Grizzleflavin (voiced by Jonathan Wilson) - A gargoyle head at the entrance of the Night Master's lair. He lets evil people enter.

- Eradicus (voiced by Jonathan Wilson) - Eradicus is a mighty Gryphon who wants to destroy Woo Foo. He is actually the first and original Night Master. After he was defeated, other dark beings took his place. His dead helpers pretended to be ghosts of Woo Foo Elders. They tricked Yang into collecting items to bring Eradicus back to life. Eradicus was defeated by Yin, Yang, and Yo working together. He later started a company called Eradicorp, where many villains work.

- Mollecu-Lars (voiced by David Berni in a German accent) - A small octopus-like helper of Eradicus. He can change his molecules to shapeshift and float.
- Brother Herman (voiced by David Berni) - Carl's selfish and evil ant brother. Herman is a powerful ant leader who rules his kingdom strictly. He tried to take over the world until Master Yo stopped him.
- Ultimoose (voiced by Tony Daniels) - An athletic moose-like creature with his own martial arts style. He was connected to the Night Master. He is very masculine and sometimes selfish. He refers to himself in the third person. He once became the new Night Master, calling himself the Night Mooster.
- Smoke (voiced by Linda Ballantyne) - A very active female character. She was Yang's supposed girlfriend as part of a plan. Yin and Yang eventually trapped her in a special prism. She uses a giant sword. Her style is a parody of Sailor Moon.
- Mirrors (voiced by Jonathan Wilson) - Smoke's brother and rival. He and Smoke often fight each other. His hairstyle looks like Goku from Dragon Ball Z.
- Yuck (voiced by Scott McCord) - A green, messy rabbit. He was formed from Yin's need for control and Yang's aggression. Yuck wants to be the greatest Woo Foo Knight. He once lost his physical form but was given a robot suit by the Night Master. He can absorb Woo Foo energy. Yuck is very smart in his plans against Yin and Yang. He can be as strong as Yin and Yang together.

- The Blixens - Lexoll and Velveema are Pondscüm's female robot helpers.
- Fastidious James Spiffington (voiced by Mark Bowen in a British accent) - A small hamster who loves cleanliness and wants to take over the world. He is usually seen inside a hamster ball that controls his robots.
- Saranoia (voiced by Linda Ballantyne) - A powerful sorceress who is good at disguises. She had a difficult childhood. She wants to stop Yang's influence on Yin and even get rid of Yang. She also mistakes Master Yo for her father. She was sent away for a while to get help. She later tried to be good.
- The Chung Pow Kitties (voiced by Stephanie Morgenstern) - A group of small, cute kittens. They look like characters from The Powerpuff Girls. But they are actually mean ninja enemies of Yin and Yang. They usually wear pink, purple, and green dresses. They mostly meow but can use translators to speak English.

- Roger the Skelewog (voiced by Jonathan Wilson) - A fierce warrior and a part-time enemy of Yin and Yang. He is the father of Roger Skelewog Jr.
- The Puffin (voiced by Jim Belushi) - A puffin dressed like a gentleman. He is a parody of the Penguin character.
- Mastermind (voiced by Peter Cugno) - An evil wizard who was a big threat years ago. Now he is just a brain in a skull with mittens. He is looking for a body to become powerful again.
- Badfoot (voiced by Orlando Jones) - A purple horse known as an enemy Master Yo could not beat. He dresses like James Brown and used to have a power item called the Lick-n-Stick. He would drain Woo Foo from Master Yo once a year. Yin and Yang helped Master Yo finally defeat him.
- The Manotaur (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) - A very masculine character. He is a large man with a bald head. He planned to kidnap all the Two-ni-corns to shave their hair and make a large wig. Yang used a move called Man Smash to free the Two-ni-corns.
- Ranger Ron - A rude park ranger who looks like a pig. He appears in one episode where he shows unreasonable hate towards bears. He tries to trick Yin and Yang.
Allies
- Coop (voiced by Jonathan Wilson) - A shy chicken who likes Yin a lot. Because Yin rejected him, he joined the Night Master. He later became a minor villain with powers like Yin and Yang. Coop eventually turned against the Night Master and helped Yin and Yang defeat him. He can create a glowing bird-shaped battle aura called "Shadow Chicken." When he gets frustrated, he can turn into a strong, "bad boy" version of himself. Coop joined Yin and Yang's Woo Foo Army to fight Eradicus.
- Lina (voiced by Novie Edwards) - An aqua-green female dog. She is Yang's friend and Yin's best friend. Lina is nice, confident, but can be short-tempered. She lives on a farm with her father. - Roger Skelewog Jr. (voiced by Dwayne Hill) - The son of Roger the Skelewog. At first, Roger Jr. was a bully to Yin and Yang. How the Show Was Made
The show was created by Bob Boyle. He is an animator who worked on shows like The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom. Bob got the idea for Yin Yang Yo! from his trips to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles.
When the show was approved, Bob worked on it at the same time as his other show, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!. Steve Marmel, a writer for The Fairly OddParents, joined the project. He was a big fan of anime. Steve used anime shows like FLCL and Teen Titans as inspiration for the comedy in Yin Yang Yo!.
Most of the early work for the show, like animation and voice recording, was done in Toronto, Canada. This helped keep costs down. The animation was done by Elliott Animation, a Canadian studio. Some animators from Disney and Frederator Studios also helped. Many actors from Disney shows, like Kyle Massey, Jason Earles, and Mitchel Musso, were guest voice actors.
The music for the show was made by Michael Tavera. The theme song was written by Bob Boyle and Guy Moon, and sung by Kyle Massey. Many people worked on writing and directing the episodes.
