Teams in the Bundesliga
In the 2013–14 season, 18 different football teams competed in the Bundesliga. These teams came from all over Germany. Two new teams joined the league this season: Hertha BSC and Eintracht Braunschweig. They had both done very well in the 2. Bundesliga (the second-highest league) the year before.
Here are the teams that played in this season:
How the League Table Works
The league table shows how each team performed during the season. Teams earn points for winning or drawing matches. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the league.
The top teams in the Bundesliga get to play in bigger European competitions, like the UEFA Champions League. This is a very important tournament where the best clubs from all over Europe compete.
Teams at the bottom of the table might get "relegated." This means they move down to a lower league, like the 2. Bundesliga, for the next season. New teams from the lower league then move up to take their place. Sometimes, a team in 16th place plays a special "play-off" match against a team from the 2. Bundesliga to decide who stays in the top league.
Here is the final table for the 2013–14 season:
