Arsenal Football Club (2006–) |
The Emirates Stadium is a famous football stadium located in London, England. It is the home ground for Arsenal F.C., a well-known football club. The stadium is named after Emirates, an airline company. It can hold over 60,000 fans, making it one of the largest football stadiums in England.
History of the Stadium
The Emirates Stadium was built between 2004 and 2006. It officially opened on 22 July 2006. Before this, Arsenal Football Club played at Highbury Stadium. Highbury was a much older stadium and had only 38,419 seats. It became too small for the needs of modern football, so Arsenal decided to build a new, bigger home. The new stadium, known as Ashburton Grove during its construction, offered more space and better facilities for both players and supporters.
