Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is an exciting animated TV show about science fiction and adventure. It was made by Walt Disney Television Animation and Pixar Animation Studios. This series is a spin-off from the famous Toy Story movies, focusing on the Space Ranger, Buzz Lightyear.

The show first aired on UPN and ABC from October 2000 to January 2001. It was part of special TV blocks like Disney's One Saturday Morning and Disney's One Too. In the series, Patrick Warburton voices Buzz Lightyear. This is different from the Toy Story movies where Tim Allen voices him. There's also a video game based on the show, which came out in 2000.

What's the Story About?

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command takes place far in the future. The main place is Capital Planet, which is the center of the Galactic Alliance. This alliance is a peaceful group of many different planets and alien species who live together.

Star Command is a special police force made up of Space Rangers. Their job is to keep the galaxy safe and investigate any threats. The biggest enemy of Star Command is the Evil Emperor Zurg. He is a powerful crime boss and warlord who controls an army of robots and other races he has forced to work for him. Zurg wants to take over the entire Galactic Alliance.

The show follows Buzz Lightyear, a very famous and experienced Space Ranger. He leads a team of new, young rangers. Together, they go on missions to stop bad guys across the galaxy. Their main goal is to finally defeat Evil Emperor Zurg and bring peace to everyone.

Team Lightyear

• Captain Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Patrick Warburton): Buzz is a super famous Space Ranger known for being brave and heroic. He leads Team Lightyear. Buzz often thinks Emperor Zurg is behind every bad plan, and he's usually right! He follows rules very strictly but can bend them if needed. He's not always great at talking to people.
• Princess Mira Nova (voiced by Nicole Sullivan): Mira is a rookie ranger and the future queen of her home planet, Tangea. She has cool powers: she can "ghost" (pass through walls) and read minds. Buzz sometimes calls her "Princess" when he's annoyed. She's Buzz's co-pilot and second-in-command. Mira is often the most sensible one on the team. She has red hair and turquoise skin.
• Booster Sinclair Munchapper (voiced by Stephen Furst): Booster is a giant, friendly, dinosaur-like alien. He used to be a janitor. He's super strong and loves to eat! Booster is sweet and sometimes a bit naive. He looks up to Buzz Lightyear a lot and knows everything about Buzz's past adventures.
• XR (voiced by Larry Miller and Neil Flynn): XR is a small robot. He was first built to learn from Buzz but got blown up on his first mission! The LGMs (Little Green Men) rebuilt him, giving him a more emotional and funny personality. XR stands for Experimental Ranger. He often gets blown up on missions but is always easily rebuilt. He sees Commander Nebula as his dad because Nebula accidentally approved his creation.

Other Star Command Friends

• Commander Nebula (voiced by Adam Carolla): He's Buzz's boss and the Space Rangers' commander. He has a plasma cannon instead of a left leg. He's usually loud and a bit short-tempered.
• LGMs (Little Green Men) (voiced by Patrick Warburton): These are small, three-eyed aliens, just like the squeeze toys from Toy Story. They are super loyal and keep Star Command running. They invent and fix all the equipment. If one LGM is in trouble, the others will do anything to rescue them.
• Ty Parsec (voiced by Steve Hytner): Ty was Buzz's old partner. He was turned into a robotic "Wirewolf" (like a werewolf) after being bitten by the villain NOS-4-A2. He was later cured and became a Space Ranger again.
• Rocket Crocket (voiced by Phil LaMarr): He leads Team Rocket and has been Buzz's rival since they were in the academy.
• 42 (voiced by Joy Behar): This is Buzz Lightyear's spaceship! It gained a personality and can control itself. XR has a crush on her. After helping defeat some bad guys, 42's mind was put into a robot body, and she now helps the LGMs.

Villains

• Evil Emperor Zurg (voiced by Wayne Knight): Zurg is the main bad guy of the show. He rules an empire on Planet Z and wants to take over the whole galaxy and destroy Star Command. Zurg sees Buzz as his biggest enemy. He can turn his arms into weapons and his feet into rockets.
  • Grubs (voiced by Frank Welker): These are Zurg's version of the LGMs, but they're not very good at their jobs. They work for Zurg because they have to, and they wish they could be free.
  • Brain Pods: These are brains in mobile jars who work for Zurg as scientists. They want to escape Zurg's control.
  • Hornets: These are Zurg's robot soldiers. They are easily destroyed and not very good at shooting.
• Warp Darkmatter (voiced by Diedrich Bader): Warp used to be Buzz's partner, but he was secretly working for Zurg as "Agent Z." He has a robotic right arm with different weapons. Warp gets paid a lot for his evil work.
• Gravitina (voiced by Kerri Kenney-Silver): She's a female villain with a huge head who can control gravity with her mind. She's one of Zurg's friends and is in love with Buzz.
• NOS-4-A2 (voiced by Craig Ferguson): This is a robot vampire created by Zurg. He can drain power from anything electric and control machines he bites. He turned Ty Parsec into Wirewolf.
• Torque (voiced by Brad Garrett): A minor alien villain who commits various crimes. He can create copies of himself, but they are easy to destroy.
• XL (voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait): XR's older robot brother. He was shut down because he was evil. Zurg reactivated him, and XL rebuilt himself into a bigger, stronger robot. He often tries to get into Star Command. He later becomes good and works as an office robot.
• Wirewolf (voiced by Steve Hytner): This is Ty Parsec after he was bitten by NOS-4-A2 and exposed to radioactive moonrock. He turns into an electronic canine creature under the moon's light.

• Madam President (voiced by Roz Ryan): She is the leader of the Galactic Alliance.
• Senator Hammerhold (voiced by Corey Burton): He is Petra Hammerhold's father.

• Becky (voiced by Russi Taylor): A little alien girl from the planet Roswell who became friends with Booster.
• Dr. Ozma Furbanna (voiced by Linda Hamilton): A scientist who loves animals. She has a crush on Buzz, and he likes her too.
• King Nova (voiced by John O'Hurley): Mira's father and the ruler of Tangea. He doesn't like that Mira is a Space Ranger, but he still cares about her.
• Santa Claus (voiced by Earl Boen): The famous holiday figure! Zurg once tried to ruin the holidays, and Santa needed Buzz's help.
