Carnedd y Filiast is a fantastic mountain located in North Wales. It stands tall at about 669 meters (or 2,195 feet) high! This mountain is found near a village called Cerrigydrudion and is right on the edge of the amazing Snowdonia National Park.

Where is Carnedd y Filiast?

This mountain is part of the Arenig mountain range. It rises up from the edge of a beautiful lake called Llyn Celyn. Carnedd y Filiast is also a peak within a large area of open land known as the Migneint, which is mostly moorland. The border between two Welsh counties, Conwy and Gwynedd, actually runs right through the very top of the mountain!

What Can You See from the Top?

When the weather is clear, the view from the summit of Carnedd y Filiast is truly incredible! You can see many other famous mountains and ranges. To the west, you might spot Arenig Fach and the Rhinogs. On a very clear day, you can even see the Llŷn Peninsula and Bardsey Island far away in the distance.

Looking northwest, you can see the mighty Snowdon, Moel Siabod, the Great Orme, and the Carneddau mountains. To the northeast, the Clwydian Range and Moel Famau stand out. If you look east, you'll see the Berwyns, and to the southwest, Aran Fawddwy.

Looking south, you can see Bala Lake, Rhobell Fawr, and Arenig Fawr. On truly exceptional days, you might even be able to see as far as the Isle of Man, the Blackpool Tower in England, and some peaks in the Lake District. It's a view that stretches for miles and miles!

The mountain also has a special bowl-shaped valley on its north side. This valley was carved out by a glacier a very long time ago. It is known as Y Gylchedd.
