Charli Grace D'Amelio (i/dəˈmɪlioʊ/ DƏ-mil-EE-oh; born May 1, 2004) is an American social media personality and dancer. She was a competitive dancer for over ten years. She became famous in late 2019 when she started sharing dance videos on TikTok. That same year, she joined The Hype House, a group of TikTok creators.
Charli quickly gained many followers. She became the most-followed creator on TikTok in March 2020. She held this title until June 2022. As of 2025, she is the second most-followed person on TikTok, with over 155 million followers.
Charli D'Amelio also started acting. She voiced a character in the 2020 animated movie StarDog and TurboCat. She starred with her family in the Hulu reality show The D'Amelio Show (2021–2023). She also co-led the Snap Original reality show Charli vs. Dixie (2021–2022) with her sister, Dixie D'Amelio. In 2022, Charli won the thirty-first season of Dancing with the Stars with her partner Mark Ballas. She made her Broadway debut in October 2024 in the musical & Juliet.
Besides her online presence and acting, Charli has also written two books, hosted a podcast, and launched a nail polish collection, a mattress, a makeup line, and a clothing line. Charli Grace D'Amelio was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on May 1, 2004. Her mother, Heidi D'Amelio, was a photographer and model. Her father, Marc D'Amelio, owned a business. Charli has an older sister, Dixie D'Amelio, who is also a social media star.
Charli started dancing when she was three years old. She was a competitive dancer for more than ten years before she began her TikTok career in 2019. She used to go to a private school called King School in Stamford, Connecticut. After she became famous on TikTok, she started attending school online.

Becoming Famous on TikTok (2019–2021)
Charli D'Amelio first started posting videos on TikTok in May 2019. Her first video that became popular was a "duet" (a side-by-side video) with another user in July 2019. Charli has said she was surprised by how quickly she became famous. She told Variety that she sees herself as a "normal teenager" that many people watch. Her videos mostly feature her dancing to popular songs.
In October 2019, she became even more well-known for her videos dancing to the "Renegade" dance. This dance was set to the K Camp song "Lottery". D'Amelio Brands
In September 2022, Charli and her family announced a new company called D'Amelio Brands. This company creates and manages its own brands, focusing on fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. Charli, her mother, and her sister Dixie are co-founders and help with ideas for products and marketing. The company launched D'Amelio Footwear in May 2023. They have also opened temporary stores (pop-ups) for the footwear line across the United States. In August 2023, D'Amelio Brands received more funding to expand into food and drinks. Their flavored popcorn line, Be Happy Snacks, was released in Walmart stores and online in October. Other projects under D'Amelio Brands include a skincare line called ZitsAllRight and merchandise called Dam Fam Merch.
