Expansion Across Southeast Asia
The channel expanded to Singapore on March 16, 2013. Then, it launched in Indonesia and Thailand on October 19, 2013. Finally, it arrived in the Philippines on May 31, 2014.
Changes in Malaysia
On February 28, 2019, the Disney XD channel in Malaysia joined the main channel feed. This meant that show timings would say "MAL/PHIL" instead of "SIN/PHIL". Astro, a TV provider in Malaysia, changed Disney XD to be only in HD from March 1, 2019. The standard definition (SD) version of the channel was removed on March 14, 2019.
Availability in Other Countries
Disney XD was not available in Hong Kong or Vietnam. However, some of its shows could be watched on Disney Channel Asia in those areas. In 2016, Disney XD Asia also became available on some digital cable networks in Bangladesh. This happened after Disney Channel India and Disney XD India were no longer available there.
When Disney XD Closed Down
Disney XD, along with Disney Channel and Disney Junior, stopped broadcasting in Singapore on June 1, 2020. This affected both Singtel and StarHub viewers.
The channel completely stopped broadcasting on Astro and other platforms on January 1, 2021. This decision was made as Disney reviewed its business in the region. Many of the shows that were on Disney XD moved to Disney Channel (except in Malaysia and Singapore). Some content also moved to streaming services like Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia and Disney+ in Singapore.
