Disney Junior is a TV channel in Southeast Asia that used to be called Playhouse Disney. It's owned by The Walt Disney Company. This channel is mostly for kids aged 2 to 8 years old.
You can watch lots of fun shows on Disney Junior. These include new TV series, movies, and other popular kids' programs. Disney Junior also had a special time slot on its sister channel, Disney Channel, called "Disney Junior on Disney Channel." This special block of shows ended on July 31, 2018.
Disney Junior, along with Disney Channel and Disney XD, stopped broadcasting in Singapore on June 1, 2020. This happened on both Singtel and StarHub TV. The streaming service Disney+ was planned to launch in Singapore later.
On August 5, 2020, Disney Junior started broadcasting in high-definition (HD) quality on Astro in Malaysia because many people were watching it. However, on January 1, 2021, Disney Junior and its sister channels stopped broadcasting in Malaysia. This was because Astro decided not to renew their agreement with Disney. Instead, Astro added new kids' channels like Nick Jr. and Boomerang.
Regional Versions of Disney Junior
A "feed" is like a different version of the channel for a specific region. Each feed might have its own schedule or language options.
- Main Version: This version is available in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
- Hong Kong Version: This version is for Hong Kong and Macau. It has its own schedule and broadcasts in Cantonese and English.
- Taiwan Version: This version is for Taiwan. It has its own schedule and broadcasts in Taiwanese Mandarin and English.
- Mainland China Version: This version is for Mainland China and broadcasts in Chinese.
Past Regional Versions
- Singapore Version: This version had a schedule similar to the main one. It also showed local advertisements. It stopped broadcasting on May 31, 2020. This was because the contract with StarHub and Singtel ended, and Disney+ was going to launch in Singapore.
- Malaysia Version: This version also had a schedule similar to the main one and showed local advertisements. It stopped broadcasting on Astro on December 31, 2020. This was due to an expired contract and Astro refreshing its Kids Pack with new channels.
