Emsley A. Laney High School, often called Laney High School, is a public high school in Wilmington, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the New Hanover County Schools system. The school is well-known because Michael Jordan, a famous basketball player, went there.
History of Laney High School
Laney High School opened its doors in 1976. The school was named after Emsley Armfield Laney. He was an important business and community leader in Wilmington for many years. Mr. Laney was also a member of the school board for over 30 years. During some of that time, he served as the chairman.
