The Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children was a special prize given to artists who made great children's music albums. It was part of the famous Grammy Awards, which started in 1958. These awards celebrate amazing achievements in music, no matter how many albums were sold.
This award was first given out in 1994. The very first winners were producer Alan Menken and Tim Rice. They won for the amazing soundtrack of the popular Disney movie Aladdin.
The award for Best Musical Album for Children stopped being given out in 2012. This happened because the Grammy Awards changed many of their categories. This award then joined with the Best Spoken Word Album for Children award. Together, they formed a new award called the Best Children's Album. This change was like going back to how things were before 1994. Back then, there was just one award for all children's recordings.
