Ian Gardner (born May 5, 1981) is a former professional boxer from Canada. He was born and grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. People called him The Cobra because of how smoothly he moved in the boxing ring. In 2001, Ian moved to the United States to train with a coach named Goody Petronelli in Brockton, Massachusetts.
Ian mostly competed as a middleweight boxer. He also fought once as a junior middleweight in 2004. In that fight, he won against Tokunbo Olajide to claim two important titles. Ian Gardner faced some big names in boxing during his career.

Ian Gardner had many exciting fights throughout his career. He fought against future champions and showed great skill. Even when he didn't win, he often put up a strong fight.
Key Fights and Achievements
In 2005, Ian fought Arthur Abraham for a WBA Inter-Continental middleweight title. He lost that fight after 12 rounds. Later that same year, he faced Chad Dawson for another title. Ian lost that match in the 11th round.
One of his most notable fights was in 2008 against Gennadiy Golovkin. Golovkin later became a famous middleweight champion. Ian Gardner was one of only six boxers who managed to last all 8 rounds against Golovkin. He lost the fight, but it showed his toughness.
Retirement from Boxing
Ian Gardner fought one more time after his match with Golovkin. In 2009, he won against Marcus Thomas by knockout. After that victory, Ian decided to retire from professional boxing.
