Kim Seok-jin (Hangul: 김석진; born December 4, 1992), known as Jin (Hangul: ), is a South Korean singer and songwriter. He is a famous member of the K-pop boy band BTS.

Jin has released three solo songs with BTS. These include "Awake" (2016), "Epiphany" (2018), and "Moon" (2020). All of these songs were popular in South Korea. In 2019, Jin released his first song on his own, called "Tonight". He officially started his solo career in October 2022 with the song "The Astronaut".

Besides singing, Jin also hosted many music shows in South Korea from 2016 to 2018. In 2018, he and his bandmates received a special award. It was the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit from the President of South Korea. This award was for their amazing work in sharing Korean culture with the world.

Jin's Early Life and School

Kim Seok-jin was born on December 4, 1992. His hometown is Anyang, in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He grew up with his mother, father, and older brother. In 2007, he went to Australia for a study camp to learn English.

Jin first wanted to be a journalist. But after watching an actor named Kim Nam-gil in a TV show, he decided to try acting instead. When he was in junior high, a K-pop company called SM Entertainment tried to recruit him. They saw him on the street, but he said no at the time. Jin then studied Film Studies at Konkuk University and graduated in 2017. Later, he went to graduate school to learn about other subjects.

"Epiphany" came out on August 9, 2018. It was a preview for BTS' album Love Yourself: Answer. Billboard magazine called it a "building pop-rock melody". The song's message is about accepting and loving yourself. "Epiphany" was also a hit in South Korea and the US. In October 2018, Jin and his bandmates received the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit.

"Moon" was released in 2020 on BTS' album Map of the Soul: 7. A writer from Variety described it as a power pop song for the band's fans. "Moon" reached number one on a major South Korean music chart.
