Kianoush Rostami (Persian: کیانوش رستمی, born July 23, 1991) is a famous Iranian Olympic weightlifter. He is known for his amazing strength and for winning many medals in big competitions.
He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. There, he won a gold medal in the 85 kg (about 187 pounds) event. He also set a new world record by lifting a total of 396 kilograms (about 873 pounds).
Rostami also won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He first won a bronze medal, but it was later changed to a silver medal. This happened because another athlete was disqualified.
Even though he had a high score in Olympic qualifying, Rostami did not make it to the Tokyo Olympic Games. This was because he scored zero points in one of the important qualification periods. He missed all three of his lifts in the snatch part of the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships.
