The Lebern District is a cool area located in the western part of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It's one of ten districts in the canton. Lebern teams up with the city of Solothurn to form an electoral district called Solothurn-Lebern. About 46,439 people live here (as of 31 December 2020).

Geography of Lebern

Lebern District covers an area of about 117 square kilometers (45 square miles). A big part of this land, about 40%, is used for farming. Forests cover another large portion, about 43.7% of the area.

About 14.4% of the land has buildings or roads on it. A small part, 1.3%, is covered by rivers or lakes. The rest, about 0.6%, is land that isn't used for anything specific.

People of Lebern

Lebern has a population of 46,439 people. Most people in Lebern speak German. This is about 87.6% of the population. The second most common language is Italian, spoken by about 3.8% of the people. French is third, spoken by about 1.7%. A very small number of people, 34, speak Romansh.
