Mikey Day, born on March 20, 1980, is a talented American actor and comedian. He is well-known for his work on the popular NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (often called SNL). Mikey started as a writer for SNL in 2013. Later, he became a cast member, first as a "featured player" in 2016, and then as a main "repertory player" in 2018. Besides SNL, Mikey Day also hosts the fun Netflix show Is It Cake?. Before SNL, he was a correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Early Life and Education
Michael William Day was born in Orange, California, on March 20, 1980. He went to Panorama Elementary School and later graduated from El Modena High School. During his high school years, Mikey was very active in the drama club. He also participated in the student government. He enjoyed writing funny skits for school assemblies. In 2002, Mikey graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in theater.
Career Beginnings
Mikey Day began his comedy journey with the Groundlings. This is a famous improvisational theater group located in Los Angeles. While at the Groundlings, Mikey and his friend Michael Naughton created a funny video called David Blaine Street Magic. This video was a parody, or a humorous imitation, of the magician David Blaine. They posted it on YouTube, and it became one of the most-watched videos on the site for a time.
Mikey was also one of the first cast members on the improv comedy show Wild 'n Out on MTV. He played many different characters in Groundlings stage shows. He also wrote for the TV show The Underground in 2006.
Mikey Day starred in the American version of Kath & Kim in 2009. He also helped write and produce the Cartoon Network show Incredible Crew in 2013. In 2014, he wrote for Adult Swim's Robot Chicken. From 2010 to 2013, Mikey hosted a regular segment that made fun of the show TMZ. This segment appeared on The Jay Leno Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Mikey was also a cast member and a co-head writer for the NBC variety show Maya & Marty. He worked alongside stars like Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, and Kenan Thompson on that show.
Working on Saturday Night Live
Mikey Day joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2013. This was for the show's 39th season. He was suggested for the job by Nasim Pedrad, an SNL cast member who had worked with him before. While writing for SNL, Mikey created many sketches with his former Wild 'n Out co-star, Taran Killam. They also wrote the movie Brother Nature together in 2016.
Mikey became a "featured player" on SNL for its 42nd season. He was then promoted to a main "repertory player" at the start of the 44th season. For his audition, he did impressions of Donald Trump Jr. and SNL actor Kyle Mooney. His first time on SNL as a cast member was on October 1, 2016. This episode was hosted by Margot Robbie.
Mikey Day, Bobby Moynihan, and Streeter Seidell wrote the famous "Haunted Elevator" sketch. This sketch appeared on the October 22, 2016, episode of SNL. Tom Hanks played the character David S. Pumpkins in the sketch. Mikey Day played one of the two dancing skeletons. The sketch became very popular online. He played the skeleton again in The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special in 2017.
On April 13, 2024, Mikey Day and guest host Ryan Gosling appeared in a sketch. They played live-action versions of Beavis and Butt-Head. This sketch also became very popular and received a lot of attention. The two actors even dressed up as the characters again at the movie premiere for The Fall Guy.

Mikey Day and his writing partner Streeter Seidell have worked on projects for Disney. They finished one movie and have two more in the works. The first movie they completed is Home Sweet Home Alone. This film is the sixth movie in the Home Alone series. It was released on Disney+ on November 12, 2021. They are also working on a live-action movie based on Inspector Gadget. Plus, Walt Disney Pictures is planning to make a new version of the movie SpaceCamp.

Mikey Day was in a relationship with actress Selma Blair from 2008 to 2010. They met while working on the show Kath & Kim.
Mikey Day married his long-time partner, actress Paula Christensen, in 2024. Their son was born in August 2012.
