Moel y Gydros is a cool hill in North Wales. Its name means "Bare Hill of Gydros" in Welsh. It stands just outside the famous Snowdonia National Park. This hill is right on the border between Gwynedd and Conwy County Borough. A road called the B4501, which goes from Frongoch to Cerrigydrudion, runs along its lower slopes.

Where is Moel y Gydros Located?
Moel y Gydros is part of the Arenig mountain range. Another peak called Arenig Fawr is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) to its southwest. Its "parent peak," which is a taller nearby mountain, is Carnedd y Filiast. This peak is about 3 kilometres (2 miles) to the west.
Amazing Views from the Summit
On a clear day, if you look northwest from Moel y Gydros, you can see some really big mountains. These include the Carneddau, Glyderau, and even Snowdon itself! These famous peaks are about 20 kilometres (12 miles) away.
To the north, you'll see the wide, open moorland of Mynydd Hiraethog. You can also spot the Clwydian Range in that direction. Looking east and southeast, you'll see the beautiful Dee Valley, the town of Corwen, and the Berwyn range of hills. Sometimes, on very rare and clear days, you might even see Kinder Scout in the Peak District of Derbyshire. That's about 125 kilometres (78 miles) away!
How to Climb Moel y Gydros
Climbing to the top of Moel y Gydros is quite easy. It takes about 45 minutes of steady walking to reach the summit.
The Path to the Top
There's a special track that farm vehicles use. This track starts from the Cwmpenanner road and goes all the way up to the summit. When you get to the top, you'll find a small pile of stones called a cairn. This cairn marks the highest point of the hill. It's a great spot to enjoy the views!
