Marcus Füreder (born November 27, 1974), known as Parov Stelar, is an Austrian musician, producer, composer, and DJ. He is famous for helping to create electro swing music. He is one of the most successful artists from Austria around the world. Besides his music, he is also known for his visual artwork, which has been shown in many art galleries.
His music mixes electronic music with sounds from jazz, swing, and blues. It combines modern beats with older sounds and strong brass sections. Many of his songs have been used in films, commercials, and TV series all over the world.
Parov Stelar first became well-known in 2004. This happened after he released his EP (Extended Play) called KissKiss and soon after, his album Rough Cuts. These early works helped create his special sound. Later songs like Catgroove, Booty Swing, and All Night made him one of the most listened-to electro swing artists. He really helped shape this music style. His music has often been on the charts. For example, The Sun (2018) and Voodoo Sonic Pt. 2 (2020) both reached number one on the US iTunes Electronic Charts. His song All Night has been certified double platinum in Italy and platinum in Germany and Austria.
Since 2005, Parov Stelar has performed live with the Parov Stelar Band. Their shows are a mix of a DJ set and live instruments. The band has toured all over the world. They have played at big festivals like Coachella (US), Glastonbury (UK), Sziget (Hungary), and Lollapalooza (Germany). They have also played in sold-out places like the PlayStation Theater in New York and Alexandra Palace in London.
So far, Parov Stelar has released ten studio albums, one live album, and more than twenty EPs. He has won ten Amadeus Austrian Music Awards for his work.

About Parov Stelar
Early Life and Music Journey
Marcus Füreder grew up in Linz, Austria. He loved music and art from a young age. He started his career as a DJ in local clubs. He used the names Plasma or his real name. He got ideas from jazz, soul, house, and electronic music. These styles later influenced his unique sound.
To create his music freely, Füreder started his own record label in 2003. It's called Etage Noir Recordings. He has released music under the name Parov Stelar through this label ever since. His first releases, like the EP Kiss Kiss (2004) and the album Rough Cuts, quickly became popular in clubs and at festivals around the world.
Becoming Famous and Developing His Sound
With his albums Seven and Storm (2005) and Shine (2007), Parov Stelar made his sound even better. He added parts of jazz, house, and broken beat to his songs. These early works set the stage for his later success. He focused more on electro swing when he released Coco (2009).
The two-part album Coco was his big breakthrough. It made him a top artist in electro swing. The album included the song Catgroove, which became very popular online. In February 2010, a dancer named Michael Startsev posted a video on YouTube dancing to Catgroove. This video has been watched over 55 million times.
In 2012, Stelar released the double album The Princess. This album had worldwide hits like Booty Swing and All Night. His next albums, The Art of Sampling (2013) and The Demon Diaries (2015), continued to develop his sound. With The Burning Spider (2017), Parov Stelar tried something different. He moved away from his classic electro swing sound and focused more on blues and jazz elements.
In 2020, he released Voodoo Sonic - The Trilogy. This was a three-part album series that mixed his old music styles with new ideas. It showed different sides of his sound. His 2022 album, Moonlight Love Affair, was more melodic. It blended parts of pop and electronic dance music with his usual style. Songs like Candy Girl and Toxic Lover are examples from this album.
Throughout his career, Parov Stelar has worked with famous artists. These include Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry, Marvin Gaye, and Lady Gaga. He also remixed two songs by another Austrian artist, Falco. These were Vienna Calling (2017) and Der Kommissar (2022).
Live Shows and His Band
Besides making music in the studio, Parov Stelar also performs live. In 2005, he performed with a full band for the first time. They mixed electronic beats with live instruments. His energetic shows combine music, cool visuals, and some improvisation.
Parov Stelar and his band have played at many of the world's biggest music festivals. These include Coachella (US), Glastonbury (UK), Sziget (Hungary), Hurricane, Southside, and Lollapalooza (Germany). They have also played at famous venues like the O2 Academy Brixton in London and Zénith in Paris. His tours regularly take him across Europe, North America, and other places. By mixing live instruments with electronic sounds, he creates a unique live experience that stands out from typical DJ sets.
