Pendleton is a town located in Niagara County, New York, United States. It sits on the southern edge of the county. The town is east of the city of Niagara Falls and southwest of the city of Lockport. In 2010, about 6,397 people lived there.

Exploring Pendleton's Past
The town of Pendleton was created in 1827. It was formed from a part of the town of Niagara. Sylvester Pendleton Clark, one of the first people to settle here, gave his name to several places in the area. Eventually, the entire town was named after him. Clark was a veteran of the American Revolution and also worked as an innkeeper and postmaster.
Starpoint Central School District
Starpoint Central School was built in 1956. It got its name because the new school system served five different areas. These areas were Pendleton, parts of Cambria, Lockport, Wheatfield, and Royalton. Starpoint is located right in the middle of these five communities, like the center of a star.
The school is on Mapleton Road and teaches students from kindergarten through 12th grade. It serves about 5,300 families across a large area of 115 square miles (298 km2). The schools have been expanded recently because more students are joining.
From Farms to Homes
For a long time, Pendleton was mostly a farming community. But recently, the town has been changing. More land is being used for new neighborhoods and businesses. As more homes are built, the number of people living in Pendleton continues to grow.
Pendleton has a fire company made up entirely of volunteers. The Wendelville Fire Company provides these services. In 2010, Pendleton was even nominated as a "Best Place to Grow Up in America."
Pendleton's Location and Features
The town of Pendleton covers about 27.4 square miles (71 km2). Most of this area, about 27.2 square miles (70 km2), is land. The remaining 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) is water.
The southern border of the town is formed by Tonawanda Creek. This creek also marks the border between Niagara County and Erie County. The Erie Canal flows through the eastern part of Pendleton. It connects to Tonawanda Creek in this area.

Pendleton is home to several smaller communities and interesting spots:
- Beach Ridge – A small community located near the western edge of the town.
- Hoffman – Another small community on the western town line, close to Tonawanda Creek.
- Mapleton – A tiny community found in the northwest corner of the town.
- North Buffalo Suburban Airport (0G0) – This is a small airport for general aviation. It is on the west side of Route 78 (Transit Road). It used to be called "Transit Airport."
- Pendleton – A small community located near the southern border of the town.
- Pendleton Center – A community located right in the middle of the town, on NY-270.
- Wendelville – A community located near Tonawanda Creek, also on NY-270.

Town Parks in Pendleton
Pendleton has three town parks for everyone to enjoy:
- Depeau Park – You can find this park on Tonawanda Creek Road North. It is at the end of Irish and Oakwood Roads.
- Nine Mile Island – This park is actually located in Amherst. However, it is owned by the town of Pendleton.
- Pendleton Town Park – This park is in Pendleton Center. It is located behind the Pendleton Town Hall and the Pendleton Historic Society. Here, you can find baseball fields, picnic areas, and a playground. Every Fourth of July, the park hosts a popular fireworks show.
