Perly-Certoux is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. It's known for its quiet, green spaces and is a part of the larger Geneva area.

History of Perly-Certoux
The village of Perly was first mentioned way back in 1124. At that time, it was known as de Perliaco. Certoux, the other part of the municipality, was first written about much later, in 1537, and was called Sartoux.
Exploring Perly-Certoux's Geography
Perly-Certoux covers an area of about 2.53 square kilometers (about 1 square mile). This is how the land is used:
- Most of the land, about 70.4%, is used for farming. This means lots of fields and crops.
- A smaller part, about 3.2%, is covered by forests.
- About 26.9% of the land is built up with buildings and roads.
- A tiny bit, 0.4%, is made up of rivers or lakes.
Within the built-up areas, 1.6% are industrial buildings, 12.3% are homes, and 10.7% are roads and transportation areas. Parks and sports fields make up 2.0%. The forested land includes both dense forests and smaller groups of trees. For farming, 51.4% is used for growing crops, 4.7% for pastures, and 14.2% for fruit trees or vineyards. All the water in the area is flowing water, like streams.
The municipality is located on the left side of the Rhone river. It includes two main villages: Perly and Certoux.
People and Population in Perly-Certoux
Perly-Certoux has a population of about 3,000 people. As of 2008, about 23.9% of the people living here were from other countries. Over the past 10 years (1999–2009), the population has grown by about 4.7%. This growth is mostly due to more births than deaths, rather than people moving in.
Most people in Perly-Certoux speak French, which is spoken by about 86.4% of the population. The next most common languages are Italian (3.2%) and German (3.0%).
In 2008, the population was almost evenly split between males (49.0%) and females (51.0%). Many people living in Perly-Certoux were born there (18.0%) or elsewhere in the same canton (33.6%). About 29.2% of the residents were born outside Switzerland.
The population changes each year due to births, deaths, and people moving in or out. In 2008, there were more births than deaths among Swiss citizens, leading to a small increase. However, when considering all moves, the total population slightly decreased that year.

Education in Perly-Certoux
Education is important in Perly-Certoux. About 37.7% of the population has finished upper secondary education, which is like high school. Also, 18.7% have gone on to higher education, like university or a specialized college.
During the 2009-2010 school year, there were 594 students in the Perly-Certoux school system. The Canton of Geneva's education system offers:
