The story of Saravanaa Bhavan started in 1968. A person named P. Rajagopal opened a small grocery shop. This shop was in K. K. Nagar, near Chennai.
In 1981, he decided to open his first restaurant. At first, it lost a lot of money. But soon, his restaurant became very popular. It started making a good profit.
Learning from Others
In 1992, Rajagopal visited Singapore. He saw how big fast-food places like McDonald's worked. He learned from their methods. He used these ideas to help his own restaurant chain grow.
Growing Around the World
By the 1990s, Saravanaa Bhavan had many restaurants in Chennai. In 2000, they opened their first restaurant outside India. This was in Dubai. Many Indian people live there.
