Sassel was once a small municipality (like a town or village area) in the Broye-Vully region. It is located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
On July 1, 2011, Sassel joined with several other villages. These villages were Cerniaz (VD), Combremont-le-Grand, Combremont-le-Petit, Granges-près-Marnand, Marnand, Seigneux, and Villars-Bramard. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Valbroye.

History of Sassel
Sassel is quite old! The first time anyone wrote about Sassel was in the year 1177. Back then, it was called Sases.
Where is Sassel Located?
Sassel covers an area of about 3.3 square kilometers (about 1.3 square miles). Much of this land, around 67%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 28% of the area. The rest, about 4.6%, has buildings and roads.
The village is found in the northeast part of the Jorat region. It sits on the left side of the Broye river. Sassel is a haufendorf village. This means it's an old, unplanned village with buildings packed closely around a central area.
Sassel's Coat of Arms
Every town has a special symbol called a coat of arms. Sassel's blazon (the official description) is: Per pale Argent and Gules, two Roses counterchanged. This means it has two halves, one silver (Argent) and one red (Gules). On each half, there is a rose, but its color is swapped. So, a red rose is on the silver side, and a silver rose is on the red side.
