The Southern Moreton Bay Islands are a group of islands located in the north-east part of the City of Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. This area is officially called a "locality," which is like a small district or place. In 2021, very few or no people lived on these islands. They also do not have a special postcode.

Island Geography
This area is made up of many islands that are very low and close to the water. They are separated by channels, which are like narrow waterways. Most of these islands are covered in mangrove trees. A large part of the area gets covered by water when the tide is high.

Protecting Nature
Many of the islands in this area are protected as part of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands National Park. This means they are special places where nature is kept safe. Most of the channels are also protected as part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park. This park helps protect the ocean and its creatures.
There's also a special area called the Jumpinpin-Broadwater Fish Habitat Area. It was created in 1983 to protect fish. This area has important seagrass meadows and shallow water areas where many different kinds of sea life live and grow.
