What's New at the Zoo?

Exciting New Animals

In 2006, some very special animals arrived! A pair of rare snow leopards joined the zoo family. These beautiful big cats are endangered, meaning they are at risk in the wild. Also, the zoo welcomed the very first Bactrian camel ever born in Wales! You can now see Caracara birds in the old condor aviary. Plus, Margay cats, which are small wild cats, are another recent addition to the animal collection.

Future Plans for the Zoo

The zoo is always working on new projects to make things even better for its animals. They are building a brand new tropical house! This will be a warm, humid home for reptiles and will also have new areas for alligators. Work on this exciting project started in 2007.
