Japan's Big Changes
- On April 25, a huge naval battle called the Battle of Dan-no-ura took place in Japan. This battle was part of the Genpei War, a long fight between two powerful families. The Minamoto clan won this battle, which was a very important victory for them.
- This year also marked the end of the Heian Period in Japan. A new period, called the Kamakura period, began. This was a time of big shifts in how Japan was ruled, moving towards a government led by warriors.
