Andretti Global is an American motorsports team. It used to be called Andretti Autosport. This team competes in many different racing series. These include the IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, Formula E, and Extreme E. They also work with other teams in IMSA and the Australian Supercars Championship.
The team started in 1993 as Forsythe/Green Racing. It was founded by Gerald Forsythe and Barry Green. For many years, it was known as Team Green. Michael Andretti, a famous race car driver, bought part of the team in 2002. He changed its name to Andretti Green Racing. They then started racing in the Indy Racing League (now IndyCar Series) in 2003. From 2009 to 2023, Michael Andretti was fully in charge, and the team was called Andretti Autosport. In 2023, the team changed its name to Andretti Global. This was because of a new parent company formed in 2022. Michael Andretti and businessman Dan Towriss created this company to try and join Formula One.
Andretti Global has won the Indianapolis 500 race six times. They won in 1995, 2005, 2007, 2014, 2016, and 2017. They also won the CART championship once in 1995. The team has won the IndyCar Series championship four times: in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2012. They have also won the Indy Lights championship several times. In Formula E, they won the 2022–23 driver's championship with Jake Dennis.
In October 2024, Michael Andretti stepped down as the CEO of Andretti Global. He will still be a strategic advisor for the company.

Michael Andretti felt this win was as special as if he had won it himself as a driver. His son, Marco Andretti, joined the team in 2006. Michael even came out of retirement to race with Marco in the 2006 Indianapolis 500. They finished second and third in that race.
In 2007, Dario Franchitti won the 2007 Indianapolis 500 and the Indy Racing League championship. After 2009, the team became known as Andretti Autosport. In 2010, Ryan Hunter-Reay brought the team its first win since 2008. In 2012, Ryan Hunter-Reay won the IndyCar Series championship. This was a very exciting win.

In 2010, Andretti Autosport started racing in the U.S. F2000 National Championship. This is a series for young drivers. Sage Karam won the championship in 2010. The team also won the team championship that year.
Formula One Plans
At the end of 2021, Andretti Autosport thought about buying a Formula One team. These talks did not work out.
In 2022, Michael Andretti's father, Mario Andretti, announced big news. Michael had asked the FIA to let Andretti Global join Formula One in 2024. They even had a deal with Renault to get engines.
Some people in Formula One were not happy about a new team joining. They worried about sharing money. But the FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, supported Andretti.
In 2023, Andretti Global announced they would join Formula One with General Motors and Cadillac. Two teams, McLaren and Alpine, supported their plan. In October 2023, the FIA said yes to Andretti joining in 2026. However, in January 2024, Formula One Management said no. They felt the team might not be competitive enough.
