The Barbie Horse Adventures video game series lets you join Barbie on exciting journeys with horses! These games are based on Mattel's popular Barbie dolls. They are made for kids and teens who love horses and adventure. You get to explore the world of equestrianism, which means everything about horses and riding.

What's the Gameplay Like?

In these games, you usually play as Barbie or one of her friends. You'll explore different places, from pretty hills and woodlands to busy horse ranches and racetracks.

The main part of the game is all about horses! You get to do many fun things like:

  • Taming horses: Making friends with wild horses.
  • Feeding and grooming: Taking care of your horse by giving it food and brushing its mane.
  • Training horses: Teaching your horse new skills.
  • Finding lost horses: Sometimes horses wander off, and you'll need to find them.

But the most exciting part is riding horses! You can try different riding styles, including cool trick riding and thrilling horse racing. Sometimes, you might even meet some wild animals like porcupines or skunks during your adventures.

Beyond horses, you can also customize your character. Barbie usually has a huge wardrobe of clothes. This means you can play dress-up and create many different looks for her!

Games in the Series

The Barbie Horse Adventures series has several exciting games. Here they are, listed by when they first came out. Before this series, there was a game called Barbie: Race & Ride (released in 1999). It also focused on horses and riding, so it's like an early version of the Barbie Horse Adventures games.

Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race was the very first game in the series. It came out in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance.

In this game, you play as Barbie and race horses on different tracks. Your goal is to win the Primrose Hill Charity Cup! To do well, you need to collect special items as you ride along the tracks.

Unlike the later games, Blue Ribbon Race used 2-D graphics. This means the characters and world looked flat, like drawings, instead of having depth. The camera showed the game from an isometric viewpoint, which is like looking down at an angle. You could also play with a friend in fun mini-games! And of course, Barbie could change into many different outfits for some dress-up fun.

Barbie Horse Adventures: Mystery Ride was the second game in the series. It was released in 2003 for Microsoft Windows computers.

The story in this game is exciting! Barbie's friend Teresa's horse has gone missing, and it's up to you, as Barbie, to solve the mystery. You'll explore a big countryside with different areas, from green forests to sandy deserts. Along the way, you'll solve puzzles to find clues.

Mystery Ride was the first game in the series to use 3-D graphics. This made the world and characters look more realistic and deep. The main gameplay still focused on equestrianism. You could feed, groom, and train horses. And just like in other Barbie games, you could change Barbie's clothes and play dress-up!

The game got good reviews, with one reviewer saying the horse riding felt "amazingly realistic." They also said the game was "very satisfying to play."

Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue is an adventure game that came out in 2003. It was made for PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. It's the third game in the Barbie Horse Adventures series.

In this game, a big storm hits a horse ranch. The storm causes the gate to open, and many horses and baby horses (called foals) run away! As Barbie, your mission is to find all the lost foals and horses. You'll search through three different areas: a forest, the mountains, and a beach. In each part, you'll find a few foals and then a missing horse. Sometimes, you'll even have to race against someone else to find a horse first!

Some reviews for the game were not very positive. However, other reviews pointed out that the game was made especially for children. These reviews gave it decent scores, like 3.8 out of 5 and 6.7 out of 10.

Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp is an adventure and role-playing game. It was released in 2008 for PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Windows computers. It's the fourth game in the Barbie Horse Adventures series.

This game is set on an island that has been hit by a storm. You play as Barbie in an open world environment. This means you can explore the island freely and choose what you want to do!

The main part of the game is all about equestrianism. You can tame, feed, groom, and train many different horse breeds.

As Barbie, you can also complete various quests. Island residents will ask you to find lost items or fix broken things. You'll travel all over the island on horseback. You can also join in timed horse races and buy lots of different clothes for Barbie to play dress-up!

One review from IGN said that even though it wasn't a super complicated game, it was a good game for its main audience: young girls.
