Early life and learning
Beatrice Laus was born in Iloilo City, Philippines, on June 3, 2000. When she was three years old, she moved to the United Kingdom with her parents. She grew up in West London.
As a child, she listened to Filipino music and pop and rock songs from the 1990s. When she was a teenager, she enjoyed indie rock bands like Karen O and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She went to an all-girls Catholic school and later to Hammersmith Academy.
Beatrice learned to play the violin for seven years. At age 17, she got her first guitar. She taught herself to play by watching videos on YouTube. She was inspired to write her own music by artist Kimya Dawson and the soundtrack from the movie Juno. She can understand the Filipino languages Hiligaynon and Tagalog.
Music journey
2017–2019: First songs and EPs
The first song Beabadoobee wrote on her guitar was called "Coffee". She picked her stage name, Beabadoobee, as a fun joke. It was a name she had made up for a private Instagram account.
She released "Coffee" and a cover of "The Moon Song" in September 2017. "Coffee" quickly became popular online. It caught the attention of Dirty Hit Records, and she signed with them in April 2018. She then released her first two EPs, Lice and Patched Up, in 2018.
In 2019, Beabadoobee was named one of the "essential new artists" by NME magazine. She released her third EP, Loveworm, and an acoustic version called Loveworm (Bedroom Sessions). In September 2019, she went on her first tour, supporting Clairo. She then released her fourth EP, Space Cadet. She was also nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards.
2020–2021: "Death Bed" and first albums
In February 2020, Beabadoobee won the Radar Award at the NME Awards. She also supported her labelmates the 1975 on their tour in the UK.
A small part of Beabadoobee's 2017 song "Coffee" was used in a song called "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)" by Canadian rapper Powfu. This song became incredibly popular on TikTok in early 2020. It was Beabadoobee's first song to appear on music charts around the world. She was surprised by its success but grateful for the new opportunities it brought.
Beabadoobee announced her first full album, Fake It Flowers, in July 2020. She released several singles from the album, including "Care" and "Sorry". The album was released on October 16, 2020, and was praised by music critics. It reached number 8 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2021, she went on a tour in the UK and Ireland to support the album.
She also released a new song called "Last Day on Earth" in March 2021. This song was part of her EP Our Extended Play, which she wrote with her friends from her music label.
2022–present: Beatopia and This Is How Tomorrow Moves
Her second album, Beatopia, was announced in March 2022 and released on July 15, 2022. It included the popular song "The Perfect Pair."
In January 2023, Beabadoobee shared a short clip of a new song on TikTok. The song, called "Glue Song", quickly became very popular, especially with couples. She officially released "Glue Song" on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2023. Later, she released another version of the song featuring Clairo.
Starting in March 2023, Beabadoobee toured in many European countries. She also had the amazing chance to be an opening act for Taylor Swift on twelve shows of her 2023 The Eras Tour in the US.
On June 29, 2023, Beabadoobee had to cancel her European tour due to illness. She later released a new single, "The Way Things Go", on July 19. She also released a song called "A Night to Remember" with singer Laufey on October 20, 2023.
Her third studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, was released on August 9, 2024. This album became her first to reach number one on the UK music charts.

Beabadoobee has said that artists like Elliott Smith, Mac DeMarco, the Moldy Peaches, Pavement, Mazzy Star, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Daniel Johnston have influenced her music. She even has a tattoo of artwork by Daniel Johnston.
She has also mentioned that she loves movie soundtracks and hopes to create them in the future. Her music style is also inspired by 90s alternative rock and shoegaze bands such as The Cure, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, and The Smashing Pumpkins.
