Bellerive was once a town in Switzerland. It was located in the Broye-Vully area of the canton of Vaud.

On July 1, 2011, Bellerive joined with several other towns. These included Chabrey, Constantine, Montmagny, Mur (VD), Vallamand, and Villars-le-Grand. Together, they formed a new, larger town called Vully-les-Lacs.

History of Bellerive

Bellerive is a very old place. It was first written about in the year 1228. Back then, its name was spelled Balariva.

Bellerive covers an area of about 2.26 square kilometers (0.87 square miles). This was measured in 2009. A big part of this land, about 61.5%, is used for farming. This means people grow crops or raise animals there.

About 9.7% of the area is covered by forests. Another 23% has buildings and roads. A small part, about 1.8%, is made up of rivers or lakes. The same amount, 1.8%, is land that cannot be used for farming or building.

Bellerive is located in the Broye-Vully District. It sits on the slopes of Mont Vully. The town includes the main village of Bellerive. It also has smaller areas called hamlets. These include Cotterd, which has a church, a school, and an old castle from the 1700s. Vallamand-Dessous and part of Salavaux are also included. Many farmhouses are spread across the area too.

Bellerive village is about 533 meters (1,749 feet) above sea level. It is located between Lake Murten and Lake Neuchatel. It is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) north of Avenches.
