Dak Galbi
The city was once known for chicken farming. This led to its famous dish, "dak galbi", which means chicken ribs. But don't let the name fool you! It's usually made with chicken leg meat, not ribs. The dish includes chicken, sliced cabbage, sweet potatoes, tteok (rice cakes), and scallions. Everything is mixed with a spicy sauce that has a lot of gochujang (Korean chili paste).
It's usually cooked in a big iron pan right at your table. There's even a street in Chuncheon with about 25 restaurants just for dak galbi!
