Clinton County is a county in the state of Missouri. It is part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area. In 2020, about 21,184 people lived here.
The main town, or county seat, is Plattsburg. The county was started on January 2, 1833. It was named after Governor DeWitt Clinton from New York. Plattsburg, the county seat, also got its name from a town in New York that was named after the same Governor Clinton.

Clinton County covers a total area of about 423 square miles. Most of this area, about 419 square miles, is land. The rest, about 4.5 square miles, is water. This means only a small part (1.1%) of the county is water.
