Daniel Andre Sturridge (born 1 September 1989) is a famous English football player who used to play as a striker. Since 2023, he has been working as a TV football expert for Sky Sports.
Sturridge started his football journey in the youth teams of Aston Villa before moving to Coventry City in 2002. He then joined Manchester City in 2003. He played in two FA Youth Cup finals and made his first-team debut in the 2007–08 season. He became the only player to score in the FA Youth Cup, FA Cup, and Premier League in the same season.
In 2009, he moved to Chelsea. During his time there, he was loaned to Bolton Wanderers for a successful period, scoring eight goals in 12 games. After returning to Chelsea, he helped them win the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League in the 2011–12 season.
Sturridge joined Liverpool in January 2013 and formed a strong attacking team with Luis Suárez. In the 2013–14 Premier League season, Liverpool scored over 100 goals, with Sturridge scoring 21. He faced many injuries in the following seasons. However, he scored the first goal in the 2016 UEFA Europa League final. He was also part of the team that won the UEFA Champions League in 2019. Later, he played for Trabzonspor in Turkey and Perth Glory in Australia.

Early Life and Youth Career
Daniel Andre Sturridge was born on 1 September 1989 in Birmingham, England. He started playing football at age seven for a local club called Cadbury Athletic. Soon after, he joined the youth academy of Aston Villa.
In 2002, Sturridge moved to Coventry City. From there, he joined Manchester City's Academy in 2003. The next year, he was the top scorer and best player in the Nike Cup, a big tournament for under-15 teams. When he was 16, he played for Manchester City Youth in the 2006 FA Youth Cup. He scored four goals to help his team reach the final and two more in the final. That summer, he signed his first professional contract when he turned 17.

Manchester City Years
Sturridge started training with Manchester City's main team in the 2006–07 season. He made his first team debut in February 2007. He scored his first goal for City in an FA Cup match in January 2008. A few days later, he scored his first league goal in his first full start against Derby County.
In the 2007–08 season, Sturridge made history. He became the only player to score in the Youth FA Cup, the FA Cup, and the Premier League all in the same season. He also helped Manchester City win the FA Youth Cup that year. At the end of the 2008–09 season, he was named the club's Young Player of the Year.
Time at Chelsea
Daniel Sturridge joined Chelsea on 3 July 2009. He made his Premier League debut for Chelsea in August 2009. On 3 January 2010, he scored his first two goals for Chelsea in an FA Cup match against Watford. He finished the 2009–10 FA Cup as Chelsea's top scorer with four goals.
In September 2010, Sturridge played his first UEFA Champions League game and scored a goal. On 31 January 2011, he joined Bolton Wanderers on loan. He had a great time there, scoring in his first four matches and ending his loan with eight goals in 12 games.

He also scored in his league debut and his first home game. This made him the first Liverpool player since 1974 to score in his first three appearances for the club. On 12 May, he scored his first career hat-trick in a 3–1 win against Fulham.
Amazing 2013–14 Season
Sturridge started the 2013–14 season by scoring the first goal for Liverpool in their opening game. He continued his excellent form, scoring against Aston Villa and two goals in the League Cup. He also scored the only goal in a 1–0 win against Manchester United on his 24th birthday. These great performances earned him the first Premier League Player of the Month award for August.
He became the first Liverpool player in the Premier League era to score in seven straight league matches. He was named Player of the Month again in February. Sturridge scored 21 league goals, making him the second-highest scorer in the Premier League that season, just behind his teammate Luis Suárez. He was also named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Injuries and Later Seasons at Liverpool

The 2014–15 season was tough for Sturridge due to many injuries. He missed almost five months but returned in January, scoring a goal. He continued to face injuries, which limited his playing time.
In the 2015–16 season, he scored his first two goals against Aston Villa. He scored two more goals in the League Cup quarter-final against Southampton. He also scored his first Europa League goal for Liverpool against Manchester United. Sturridge scored his 50th goal for Liverpool in April 2016, becoming the fourth fastest player to reach this milestone for the club. He scored the opening goal in the 2016 UEFA Europa League final, though Liverpool lost the game. He finished the season as Liverpool's top scorer with 13 goals.

In the 2016–17 season, Sturridge often came on as a substitute. He scored two goals in an EFL Cup match against Burton Albion and another two against Tottenham. He scored his first league goal of the season in December, helping Liverpool break their record for goals scored in a calendar year.
In the 2018–19 season, Sturridge scored with his first touch after coming on as a substitute against West Ham United. He also scored in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. He scored his 50th league goal for Liverpool with a fantastic shot against his former club Chelsea, which was voted Premier League Goal of the Month for September. Later Career Abroad
Sturridge joined Turkish club Trabzonspor in August 2019. He scored seven goals in sixteen games before leaving the club in March 2020.
In October 2021, Sturridge signed with Australian club Perth Glory. He made his debut in November 2021, playing as a substitute. However, he faced more injury problems and only played six games without scoring any goals. He left Perth Glory in June 2022.
International Career
Youth Teams
Sturridge played for England at many youth levels, including U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21. He scored important goals for these teams, including two against the Netherlands for the U18 team. In 2011, he was named in the team of the tournament for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Senior England Team
In November 2011, Sturridge was called up to the senior England team. He made his debut against Sweden. He scored his first senior goal for England in March 2013 in an 8–0 win against San Marino. In June 2013, he started his own charity foundation in Jamaica to help young people get into sports and entertainment. He also owns a record company called Sturr Class Entertainment. Sturridge has Jamaican heritage, as all his grandparents are from Jamaica.
