David Heinemeier Hansson, also known as DHH, is a talented person from Denmark. He is a software engineer and programmer who creates computer programs. He is also a writer, an entrepreneur (someone who starts businesses), and a racing driver.

David is most famous for creating Ruby on Rails. This is a special tool that helps people build websites and web applications much faster. He is also a partner and the chief technology officer (CTO) at a company called 37signals. This company makes web-based software. David has also written several books about business and software development, including Rework and Remote.

Programming Career

David started his journey in 1999 by creating an online gaming news website and community in Denmark called Daily Rush. He managed this site until 2001.

Later, he connected with Jason Fried, who hired him to build a web-based tool for managing projects. This tool eventually became Basecamp, a popular software product from 37signals. To help build Basecamp, David used a programming language called Ruby. He created a special framework (a set of tools and rules) to make the development easier. In 2004, he shared this framework with everyone as an open-source project called Ruby on Rails. This meant other programmers could use and improve it for free.

In 2005, David was given the "Hacker of the Year" award by Google and O'Reilly. This award recognized his amazing work on Ruby on Rails. After finishing his studies at the Copenhagen Business School, David moved from Denmark to Chicago, Illinois, in the United States in November 2005.
