Ernest Hemingway bibliography facts for kids
Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) was a famous American writer. He wrote novels, short stories, and worked as a journalist. He was also known for his love of sports and adventure.
Hemingway had a special writing style. He called it the "iceberg theory". This meant he showed only a small part of the story on the surface. The deeper meaning was hidden, like most of an iceberg is underwater. This style greatly influenced other writers in the 1900s. Many of his books are still considered classics of American literature.
He wrote most of his well-known works between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s. In 1954, he won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature for his powerful storytelling. He published seven novels, six collections of short stories, and two nonfiction books during his lifetime. After he passed away, more of his writings were published. This included three novels, four short story collections, and three nonfiction works.
