Givisiez is a town in Switzerland. It is located in the Sarine district, which is part of the Fribourg canton. People used to call it Siebenzach in German, but that name is not used much anymore.

History of Givisiez
Givisiez was first mentioned in old records in 1142. Back then, it was known as Juvinsie. Later, until the early 1800s, it was called Juvisy.
Geography and Land Use
Givisiez covers an area of about 3.5 square kilometers (1.4 square miles). A big part of this land, about 34.4%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 23.1% of the area.
About 40.5% of Givisiez is built up with buildings and roads. This includes industrial areas, homes, and transportation routes. A small part, 0.6%, is rivers or lakes, and 1.2% is land that cannot be used for farming or building.
The town is located in the Sarine district, right next to the city of Fribourg.

The D’Affry mansion is a very important building in Givisiez. It is listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance. This means it's a special place that is protected because of its history.
The mansion was first built in 1539 for the D'Affry family. It was later updated and changed a lot in the 1600s.

Givisiez has its own railway station, called Givisiez. You can catch trains from here to places like Fribourg/Freiburg, Yverdon-les-Bains, Ins, and Neuchâtel. The station is on the Fribourg–Ins and Fribourg–Yverdon lines.
