Green Screen Adventures is a fun children's television series that first aired in 2007. It was first shown in Chicago on WCIU-TV (Channel 26). This show was made to be both educational and entertaining for kids. It also helps meet rules set by the FCC for children's TV. Now, you can also watch it across the country on MeTV.
The show uses stories and drawings made by students from first to eighth grade. They bring these ideas to life using funny skits, plays, game shows, songs, and puppets. Since 2007, they have used stories written by almost 1,000 elementary school students!
The show works by taking ideas from students. These can be short stories, school reports, poetry, essays, simple questions, or artwork. If an idea is chosen, a parent or guardian signs a form.
Then, the show's actors and writers turn these ideas into a short play. They act it out with simple costumes and props in front of a special green background. This is called a chroma key or "green screen." The green screen then becomes the world of the story! The show also displays the children's original artwork.
